Just a quick update. I've been away for about a month now with work but managed to get back home this weekend. Lots of family type stuff to do in the little spare time I have at the moment but I found the time to clean the car and do a few photos this evening. I'd been down to Scarborough yesterday and the car was covered in flies and grime, I couldn't bring myself to put it back in the garage for another fortnight in such a state.

Other things to report are that the Milltek is sounding even better now that its had a chance to coke up with about 250 miles worth of exhaust gasses. The N249 mod is doing its stuff and producing a very quick and loud dump sound through the Forge 007 and induction kit. Still unsure about which way to go with the rear end badging, I don't want to totally de-badge as I think it looks a bit bare like that. I think its about time for some new number plates and possibly some interior mods.

Here are the latest photos:

Looking stunning, Ross. Love it.

I thought you must be away - I was going to mention a RR day next weekend.....

See you soon!

Thanks Dave,

Bu**er, I'm away next weekend. The car is going great now that the new MAF and Milltek are fitted and the bust breather hose has been replaced. I might take it up to Motoscope myself when I get some time off.

Have you done your rods yet? :D

No, I'm afraid no progression with either car at all. I think I've got the modder's version of writer's block.

I know the feeling, although mine is more often than not caused by lack of time and/or lack of funds :)

I've been toying with the idea of fitting uprated ARBs, probably Eiback 25mm jobbies. The front one looks like a bu**er of a job though. Probably beyond my mechanical skills.

No it's easy - I'll give you a hand when the time comes.... :D

Well, its with great regret that my car is now sold. I really had no choice as its not really practical for my growing family, I suppose you have to grow up sometime. :(

She's gone to a good home and I'm sure Greg, the new owner will be along soon to say hello. He had an Ibiza Cupra before and is a member on here.

Thats a shame Ross, what have you gone for?
We've just bought a B7 A4 TDI S Line, and TBH I love it and should have bought one ages ago.
What size of family do you have?

Willie,

I have a 20 month old daughter and another inbound. I couldn't afford to keep the Leon as well as another relatively modern larger car. I've gone for a Mondeo Zetec-S TDCi 130. The B7 Audi A4 is a beautiful car, I can see why you're fond of it. I wouldn't be able to buy one outright and I swore I'd never finance a car again so that sort of thing is a wee bit beyond my immediate means, the Mondeo does everything I need though, 50 mpg and lots of space. Its just had the clutch replaced and the troublesome dual mass flywheel replaced with a single mass item. Fingers crossed it shouldn't hold too many nasty surprises.

Mondeo ticks all the family boxes. Two kids in a LCR could be tight for holidays but the A4 isn't much bigger than the LCR. The mondeo is good for 3 baby seats as well;)

Good afternoon guys,

It's Greg here, the new owner of the Leon.

Ross, I hope everything is well with the Mondeo! I'm very happy to be in a reasonably quick car again. The mondeo should certainly have enough room for all the family!

The Leon has already had a puddle of water in the foot well and engine management light come on! Gives me something to fiddle with at the weekend though, so no worries there.

Best of luck with the growing family.

Hmmm, both new ones on me Greg, of the 4 Leons Ive owned, it's been the only totally dry one. Checked on VAG-COM the day you got the car and the only engine fault code was the usual pressure drop check DV Intermittent one that you see on nearly every 1.8T running a piston dump valve.

Mondeo now serviced, climate control regassed, front powersocket blown fuse replaced, MAF sensor cleaned (so much easier than VAG cars), EGR valve cleaned (extremely dirty but totally normal), pollen filter now properly seated to stop water that was running into passenger footwell, Tint glue removed from rear window, scratches and swirls machine polished out, interior deep cleaned and is now like new.

Still have some jobs to do on the car before it's 100%, adjust brake light switch, renew rear ARB bushes and possible rear shocks but other than that I'm pretty happy. I've averaged 50mpg over the 300 miles I've driven in it and there's plenty of space for everything and everybody I need to carry. It's actually fairly quick and handles very well for a large family car.

If you need any assistance with the Leon, give me a shout and I'll be glad to help.
