Hi everybody. I’m very intrested in the Ibiza FR. As I’ll be using it for motorway driving economy on long runs is pretty important. Can anyone confirm what rpm the 95tsi pulls at 70mph in fifth and what the 115tsi pulls at 70mph in 6th. Many thanks

Based on the older 1.2 engine in 86 and 105ps variants, the low power 5 speed murdered the 6speed on real world mpg, regardless of EU figures that suggested otherwise.

My current 1.0 is so quiet when cruising, I never check the rpm at motorway speeds, sorry.

interesting, I had a 56 plate Ibiza FR TDI 130 from new, I always thought that revved high at 70mph (2300rpm I think). It was economical around town but never met my expectations on a long run on the motorway.

I have only ever owned two diesels, a 1.9 vectra cdti and 3.0v6 mercedes clk. Both of these at 70mph would be doing about 1500-1700rpm

The 1.0 TSI (higher powered one) pulls 2500 rpm @ 70mph. There was another forum member who had the lower powered TSI who mentioned the car could do 57-58mpg on highway runs. Me personally most highway runs at 65-70mph gave me low to mid 50s mpg. My best ever was 57mpg from London to Manchester, starting on 40-50mph roads for the 10-20 miles or so, then the rest were on motorway speeds. One on motorway the car was set on cruise control for 90% of the motorway journey at 68mph. As other members mentioned, its really quiet, the wind the road noise will be more intrusive than engine. I usually drive just below that speed. Later that week, journey from Manchester to Liverpool, going slowly (62-65mph) I got around 60mpg before I started slowing down and hitting some traffic. If it helps...check here: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen/polo/102737/volkswagen-polo-vs-ford-fiesta-vs-seat-ibiza 2/3 down the page..says it pulls 2.5k rpm @ 70mph...
For comparison, my Leon 2.0TDI 6speed DSG revs @ 2200 rpm @ 70mph, and my current Volvo V40 1.5T petrol 6 speed auto, revs @ 2-2100 rpm @ 70mph.

My 95PS FR sits at around 2500 RPM at 70, just under 3000 at 80. Average around 45mpg. Highest i've seen was 55mpg

That's about the same gear ratio as in my 1.2 TSI 90 5-speed Fabia then. Similar MPG too.

My 115 manual Xcelence Lux has 2300 at 70 mph. I’ve only done 45 miles mainly on motorways between 50-70 mph and put my foot down a few times taking it up to 5500 rpm so not keeping at a steady rpm for long and averaged 53 mpg.
