Safety Recall

Booked my Altea TDI Sport DSG in for it's first service and mentioned the recall on the pump bolts and the flywheel (although DSG may not be relevant). Their reply was if I haven't had a letter my vehicle is not part of the recall, didn't check anything or look at the vehicle. The vehicle was new when first registered April 2005 so maybe their right, but I'd be happier if they check chassis/engine number against something. I suppose it could be that they are super efficient and all the vehicles they have supplied have been sorted!

Well just had mine serviced and it is effected by the recall :(

Booked in for the beginning of next month for 3 days, gearbox strip down they say and won't be able to identify what needs replacing until they do.

Ho Hum.

Got mine back from dealer last night they had the car for a full 2 days.

The flywheel fitted was confirmed as one of the faulty batch so was replaced under warranty.

Thankfully the car has gone back together rattle free.... well no more rattles than before:)

Its just so nice driving the Altea after a couple of days in that bloomin Ibiza.

Mine went in for replacement yesterday. had the first check last week The dealer advised that the first check does not confirm if a new flywheel is definately needed. the gearbox has to be removed to confirm 100% so they won't order the parts until they know for sure. (True or False) Just hope Seat have the parts in stock or l'm in the Ibiza loan car for a few more days.
Question, what is a twin mass flywheel, is it just a flash name because it's got an extra chunk of metal on it, my dealer couldn't advise.

Mine doesnt need the recall! :funk: I'm so pleased it wont get taken apart.

Didnt need the fuel pump recall either, seems like it was lined up with the better parts bins when it was put together.

Good luck to all the rest of you still due to get yours checked....

Have taken mine in last week and was not affected.:)
I did however get them to set the clock on it-couldnt figure it out
Now i've got to book it back in because the boot catch is being dodgy-is that common?

The boot lock is a common problem as a few on here have had problems although mine has been fine touch wood.

You set the clock by rotating the trip reset but either left for hours or right for minutes.

After starting the thread i seem to be the last one to get sorted out. Anyway had check done today and mine is affected. :(

Dealer has told me that it will only take a day tops. Just hope they don't rush it. I would prefer it to come back just like it is thank you.

Not waiting for a loan car as brand new 06 Ibiza FR has finally arrived, and as my wife can't drive at the moment (dislocated knee, torn ligaments etc  )

Had to recall done. Took two days and the car came back and drives exactly the same thank god.

Got to work today to find dealer has sent me a customer warranty report showing that they performed the twin mass flywheel recall campaign using the following parts.

sticker
breather
s/washer
flywheel
bolt
bolts
combi
bolt
bolt
nut
bolt
bolt
bolt
screw
bolt

What a complete waste of paper and effort. no wonder our service costs are up if every time they do something they have to tell us they used bolts a nut and a sticker

Still waiting for the letter to call mine...

I'm experiencing some jitter when lifting the foot from the clutch while driving away in first gear (low speed).
Probably mine has a noticiable defect on the clutch (this only happens the first 2 ou 3 time I depress it).

Cheers,
A2day
