Same Hose Layout? GTI & TDI

Look at these 2 photos. The top is of an AHU engine and the bottom is of the 2l 16v engine. Look at the coolant hose that goes from the top of the expansion tank down to the t junction. They look very similar to me

My question is, if you wanted to 'bling up' your TDI engine bay, could you use a GTI hose kit?

Does anyone know what hoses are the same and which are different?
Any help or ideas welcome.

Do you mean that you will have a bling one for sale?? Or the standard one? AS I'd definitelly be interested if its the Bling one thats going

Will have to get myself a kit at some point, but it won't be for a while because of the hefty price tag. Maybe If I could think of a way of making them look differet colour. Anyone know of any shiny finish paints for rubber?? If possible heat resistant as well . Chances are that NO, but you never know if you dont ask

I have an Idea. Do a Vr6 engine conversion, and than you wont need the kit

looks to me the tdi pipe is shorter,so it could fit

Is that your tdi you show a pic of?

as i also have a mk2 with an AHU tdi in it and that small hose from the expansion tank goes to the water flange on the front of the head and not to the rad top hose on mine.

my mates got a mk2 with a 1Z tdi in it and its hose looks just like the one in your pic. Are you sure its an AHU

Anyway the pipes should be fairly similar to the 2.0 8v petrol as the hoses on my mk2 golf are very similarly placed and sized to that of my TDI recon you could find some way of making them fit.

Also some firms make bespoke hose kits, you take yours in and they copy them in whatever colour/ type you want. My friend has recently done this on his mk1 escort RS turbo. so have a browse on rs/ cosworth forums/ magazines!
