With my Bocanegra being off of the road for 2 years sat at only 62k miles with a gearbox issue, It's time I finally resolved it and got it back on the road so it can be sold in a few months.

P2832 - Shift Fork 'A' Position Circuit Range/Performance is what I receive when plugging in a cheap scanner I have. My dash flashes and I go from 1st to 3rd, 3rd to 5th etc etc... I have been advised that the bearings on the shift fork have collapsed which is a common problem but the best quote I have received so far is a minimum of £2,000. Unfortunately I am unable to pull this kind of money out in a flash, but I have come across a gearbox for a quarter of the fixing price and I'm wondering whether they can be swapped out? What would I need to do afterwards if I were to have this fitted? Do I need it recoding?

Any information possible would be extremely helpful as I'm sick of seeing this car sat like a semi-expensive paperweight.

Thanks!
