News that our Ibiza was on its way prompted me to have another mooch around the Seat configurator. Too late to change anything, but, well, worth just checking it *is* exactly what we want :D

First observation was that the configurator seems to have got a lot flakier -maybe it’s just me and my iPad, but last night it frequently hung, and sometimes just went to a ‘Configurator being updated’ screen. Today it’s slightly quicker, but still not what I’d call robust!

Second observation is how few versions or engines the DSG box is available on. We’ve gone FR, and the 115PS engine. Since we ordered the 150PS engine has been added to the configurator, and it’s about the same price as a 115 DSG. The 150 engine doesn’t seem to be available with the auto box though. So then I looked at other specs... the Xcellence is supposedly the top of the range ‘luxury’ version, but it’s not available with an auto at all. And I couldn’t see any diesel autos either :(

Options wise we’d chosen most things anyway, but the Alcantara trim option has been delisted (covered elsewhere in the forum) so we couldn’t have that if ordering now, and I like it. I didn’t order a spare - perhaps I should. Both our e-tron and the 235i have had punctures in the last 2 weeks..the BMW being immobilised as a result. That only leaves the ‘Beats’ audio... didn’t order it, perhaps we should, let’s see what the standard system sounds like when it’s delivered!

I *thought* the mirror link/Apple car play was an option that we didn’t chose, but it seems to be standard. Maybe the spec has changed, though I could well be wrong. I also don’t remember privacy glass being standard, though it seems to be. Let’s see what ours comes with :)

But the net result of taking a look is I’m very happy with what we have ordered, and wish that March 2 would get here quickly!

DSG-auto is (currently) only available to order on 1.0 TSI 115 FR. It is not compatible with the 1.0 TSI 95 so isn't available on XCELLENCE for the UK market (other European markets get a 1.0 TSI 115 XCELLENCE). It may become available with 1.6 TDI at a later date, but with diesel demand declining it is not guaranteed.

You should have ordered a spare (it'll cost you about double the cost to add after you take delivery). Beats Audio is definitely worth the money. Full Link and Dark Tinted Rear Windows have been standard on FR since launch.

Hopefully the standard audio isn’t *too* bad then...!

I think perhaps I assumed that the ‘connectivity hub’ option is what included the Apple CarPlay stuff, but obviously not, and the privacy glass must have just passed me by. I wouldn’t have specc’ed it if it was optional, but I don’t mind having it, if that makes sense :)

The new Polo *does* come with the 1.0TSI 95PS engine and a DSG box; perhaps the average VW buyer is more likely to want an auto? The average age of a Seat buyer is a lot younger than VW I bet :D

The new Fabia likely will as well. Both sell more automatics than SEAT.

    Generally-speaking, yes.

As someone who's been been obsessed with audio since I was a kid and am now studying a BSC in sound engineering I can safely say that the in car audio is fairly impressive for 'standard' first system where Im actually reducing the bass.

    Punchy, less boomy!
