Seat Ibiza 6L - Problem with dash cluster

Hello guys,

I'm new to this forum and I have a issue with my Seat Ibiza 6L 2006, 1.4 16V BKY, I've already did some reading about this common problem however I couldn't get it fixed.

I was messing with my dash cluster and tried replacing the speaker inside, however when I reconnected the dash it was flashing immobiliser light and half of indicator lamps didn't light up (like check engine, brakes, etc, there was no communication between ECU and dash cluster

I took my car to Seat service and ordered a new cluster, they had difficulties to adapt it, so they re-ordered it under the part warranty (we thought that cluster which arrived first time might be damaged in some way). However that didn't help, and they said that they'll have to replace ECU, dash cluster and keys aswell which is extremly expensive. So I decided to take my car from them.

I did some reading on this and other forums aswell on how to swap cluster but I'm still not quite sure how to do it. I have a brand new cluster which I bought from Seat service and I did not mess with anything on car so I'm quite confident that I didn't disconnect any ground line or something like that. ECU is OK, keys are OK aswell.

My basic understanding is that since I can't access old instrument cluster, I'll have to access ECU somehow and get that SDK file to obtain PIN which I will use to adapt the new cluster. How to retrieve PIN from ECU?

Thanks for your help!

Can you access the cluster at all with something like VAG Tacho?

because you can just disable the immobiliser through that

Sadly nope, communication with old cluster is not possible at all. I took it to a cluster specialist and he couldn't access it on bench neither. They told me that they could try to access ECU, however they'll have to take apart ECU (as far as I understand) to access it. So I'm not quite sure if that's a good option. Does anyone know how the procedure to retrieve PIN from ECU works? Or any ECU specialist in Europe where I can ship my ECU to. I want to know what I'm letting myself into. I don't want to end up with a broken ECU.

PS: I have a working ECU, working keys and a brand new dash cluster. So I just need to get the PIN from ECU to adapt dash cluster.

Should be able to do it with VAG K+ Commander, but I thought you needed the immobiliser key or something off the old cluster to complete the transfer?

Is it possible to use VAG Commander 3.6 with VAS5054? I just bought VAG Commander and I already have VAS5054. I'm guessing they use the same k-line protocol however I have no idea how to setup usb drivers.

Hey guys,
I've paid local chip tuning company to retrieve PIN from ECU and I got it. I've succeeded to adapt used dash cluster from another Ibiza and got the car working again. However I still have a brand new cluster which I would love to adapt. Any tips?

Well I would say depending where you live it can't be above 50$. It is nice to hear the warning buzzer again. I paid for the speaker 15$ on Ebay.

Does anyone know how to get fuel gauge and temp perfectly alligned. Mine shows 80 C when it is 90 and when I have a full tank the fuel gauge goes a little bit over the max.

Umm not really since the speaker is not considered as a separate part as it comes with the dash cluster. However here's a link on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Gearworks-...acho-Buzzer-/173323740109?hash=item285ae663cd

Oh yeah and I just added some features to my Ibiza via ODIS. I've activated automatic locking when driving over 15km/h and few others. Really simple to do (few clicks) but makes me happy.

Here are pics of my Ibiza. :)

Being all cleaned and parked in a garage.

i see, i didnt want to replace the whole dash cluster so ill try to find this item in the uk and see which garages can fit it for me. thank you man

your car looks incredible in the photo i left in the quote! do you wash it yourself or pay people to do it?

edit: how did you get auto locking? i want this on my mk4 6L

You can enable auto-lock with VCDS.

Personally I wouldn't worry about the speaker, from memory it's loud as **** and always gave me a fright when the ******* thing went off.

Thanks.
I wash the car by myself.
But yeah if you don't want to mess with it, you can pay someone to do it, but keep in mind that it just requires few clicks to enable/disable features so don't go crazy about paying a lot.

amazing job. dont think i have the motivation to wash it myself, i just pay £5 a month to wash it!

i think im going to pay a max of £15-20 for the mods, but it depends on how many i can add - im not paying £15 for only 2-3 mods. i would do it myself but dont think it will be worth my time to buy VCDS
