Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well. Sorry for the newbie questions but I am 16 years old and am interesting in purchasing a Ibiza FR and would like to replace the head unit with a Pioneer DEH series Stereo. I was wanting to find out what I need and who to go to to do it (unless self installed)

Also if anyone could post links with the headunit kit border that fits around the Pioneer. I am new to this so need basic info haha. Also what happens with the hazard button etc as they are in the head unit. Appreciate the help!! Thanks

My wife's just bought a 5 Door, 2013 FR which has all front and rear speakers installed, surprisingly, she's asked me to install a stereo for her, which is a first. Anyway, I've obliged, and she's got the Pioneer AppRadio 4 on order (SPH-DA120) - she didn't fancy the AVH-X8800BT that I have in my car, as she has no need for SD/CD/DVD etc. She just simply wants Radio and CarPlay.

Anyway, I've had her order;

£70 for the adapters
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ctkst01-seat-leon-2008-2014-double-din-stereo-complete-fitting-kit

£30 for the hazard light switch (needs moving)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152190728888?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

£299 -- Pioneer SPH-DA120
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/hea...ne-and-mirrorlink-also-supports-appradio-mode

Regarding the Hazard switch panel, there's different part numbers with all sorts of different buttons on the Hazard panel, she actually needed 6J0927137AG. From reading around folks seem to say they're expensive. I don't find £30 out of the way, but have no idea what their RRP is. This might be an option; ebay.co.uk/itm/Mascherine-per-autoradio-2DIN-Nero-SEAT-Ibiza-13-/271927004030?hash=item3f501ccb7e:g:eFsAAOSw~gRVoO3J

Anyway, the 3 items above - wiring harness, hazard switch and headunit - SHOULD (I hope) be enough to swap out the stock unit. I've ordered a camera (£15) and some flush fit parking sensors (£15) from Ali which I may get around to fitting at some point. I'll run the camera cable during the headunit install.

I'm just looking at speaker replacements now. The guides don't look much fun, so I may give this a miss, but it seems a shame to be put of by a bit of graft!

Very helpful, thanks. (even though I didn't ask originally lol)

But how do you know what head unit will fit into the centre conole? will there not be some gaps if you buy too small or it won't fit if you buy a too larger one?

Double DIN is Double DIN, it's a standard. The only thing I'm not sure about is the mounting depth on offer by the Ibiza, I'm fairly confident the gap will be deep enough to allow the 'Double DIN' standard, and there's certainly plenty of other folks on here and 'the other Ibiza place' who have Double DIN units fitted.

The biggest 'issue' that seems to crop up when researching this, is the need to relocate the hazard buttons. If that's the biggest 'issue' I'll be more than happy :)

A video showing the Hazard relocation can be found here --> youtube.com/watch?v=LFIWR7JXEsY

Sorry, can't post full URLs just yet (<15 post count)

Ok thanks and what do I do if I was wanting s Pioneer DEH (would post link but cant) ont that isnt double just the single, with the small slot also, where could I find the right one for that. I watched the Youtube installs of the Android screen buy I see they are all different models from the 2015 as on the 15 there are air con knobs below the console and not a smaller screen?

I'm new to the Ibiza game, like 5 days new, but afaik, the 'smaller screen' below the headunit is Climate Control, the knobs is just standard Air Con.

If you want to fit a Single DIN unit. You'd need a Single DIN Fascia; caraudiodirect.co.uk/connects2-ct24st07-facia-plate-for-seat-ibiza-2008-azabache-black

What I'm not familiar with is the dashboard colours, there appears to be a few.

Azabache Black
Nite Black
Dublin Grey
Conemara Grey

You also require a wiring harness in order to relocate the Hazard switch, as I've found out.

I've ordered a Z-EACC-S6J from amazon.de for £35.

You also require patience, and to hack the dash to bits (granted, this will be hidden from view). It wasn't as 'simple' as first thought, but there's means and ways :)

The final picture above was late at night, it was a 'final fitment' without cables... So when it came to install the next day, with cables, I found there was a protruding piece of plastic at the back that needed to go. I also found that for a flush fit, the fascia needed amending...!

The connects2 fascia is horrendously bad. As documented elsewhere. I had to sand the perimeter until it fit. This took about an hour, between shaving bit, trying to fit it, shaving more bits, trying to fit it. I've had better luck with InCarTec stuff, these might be worth a try if someone else is going to attempt this? Anyway...

The fascia needs sanding around the perimeter, to even stand a chance of fitting. I also took off the bevelled edge on the rear just to try and improve the chance of a flush fit.

I 'ground off' the green Reverse Signal wire with the ground wire (black) on the Pioneer Harness, for 'Handbrake Bypass'.

I attached the Fakra power wire to the Blue/White Remote wire on the Pioneer harness, this is for the antenna amplifier.

I then cut out the nubbin at the back, and hey presto.........

What a pain this one was :)

How does the Pioneer SPH-DA120 compare to the android unit that I've seen is quite popular on fb?

Android double-din for ibiza mk5; ebay.co.uk/itm/381275603764?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I'm not familiar with those 'all in ones', so I can't really say.

I'm a bit of a prude when it comes to technology, and have nothing but bad experience(s) with cheap/generic devices with touch screen(s). Most of those kind of devices have really poor responding screens, really poor software (custom, WinCE or out of date Android builds ~4.4) and/or rely on cracked/out of date nav software.

That's just me though, I appreciate a lot of people DO like them, and DO get on with them.

That looks like quite an older type Android unit, they can be abit clunky and you won't get full support for all apps, crucially the steering wheel controls might not work at all.

The newer Android ones are tons better, but they don't come in the custom size you need for an easy install, it'd be a custom job like Vini.

I personally wouldn't be touching anything less than 6.0 on the Android front, I would want Android Auto support.

I've not yet seen a 'Chinese unit' that ships with Marshmallow.

No the newest they do is 5.1.

The big players all plan to launch proper android auto headunits pretty soon so you should see alot of the junky Chinese units fall off the market.
Android is surprisingly late to the party though, that Pioneer headunit looks good and is quite affordable.

I have the AVH-X8800BT in my other car, Android Auto is as bad as Carplay, but it is still in its infancy.

I did however, take to using AppRadio Unchained which mirrors the display and carries over the Touch control so I could use fully blown Android via the headunit. It still sucked, so I sold the Android phone I bought specially for it, and swapped back to Carplay. But yeah, in time, full blown 6.0+ units should be available I'd imagine.

Hmm ok, what would you guys recommenced for a double din unit then around £300, the pioneer unit? Only requirement I have is to play music from a USB stick.

Also what's the part number for the ISO/stalk adapters needed for an ibiza 6j? Thanks. :help:

I'm a Pioneer guy. With everything, go for best in budget. I have the AVH-X8800BT in mine, in theory, the removable fascia was a selling point, in reality, its too big to remove and lug around. It has both CarPlay and Android Auto though.

The SPH-DA120, is a great unit though, I prefer the capacitive touch it offers against my 8800, but it is ONLY CarPlay friendly so if you're not Apple it might not be for you.

The Connects2 CTKST01 contains all you need for Steering Controls.

I've always had Sony single din's so I'm not that clued up. I'm an android guy, although I never play music off my phone I'd rather have a usb stick and shuffle that. The Pioneer AVH-X3800DAB seems quite good, might be worth a punt for me? It's currently on offer on caraudiodirect.

Cheers for the info.
