Hot news from Autosport 2006

SEAT Sport UK have completed their driver signings for the 2006 BTCC.

Joining Jason Plato will be none other than 2002 champion

JAMES THOMPSON!!!! :D

Now those who know will ask how James can compete in both the WTCC and the BTCC, SEAT have also signed sports car racer DARREN TURNER to compete in place of James in 4 races where the championship dates collide

Great news for SEAT Sport UK i think you will agree

think it may just be a wining year this year, roll on april
I hope it's winning, not whining. A good lineup but I still think they should have a third car. Easy for me to say, I don't have to balance the budget.

Good news!!!

No disrespect to Pickford and Hines, but it will be nice to see 2 competitive and well supported drivers.

We'll have to wait for the season start to see how well the new cars go though

Maybe a silly question but what happens to last years (2005) other 2 drivers ...

They join the long queue of drivers going for other drives. Vauxhall still have a third car available, Dynamics aren't confirmed as running the same three guys as last year and WSR have just announced a big sponsorship deal for two MGs.

I can't wait to see James Thompson racing in the UK again. :D

It's looking good so far. More confirmed entries now than there were in April 2005!

That MG's quite tastefully done. A much better shade of orange than the Halfords cars. That could be a real outside shot if they get two good drivers in it.

the shade is really close actually, having done work for Halfords and a proposal fro RAC, the RAC is slightly darker, but there isn't much in it. It does look a great livery. Should be a bright grid with four orange cars a pink Integra, a multi-coloured BMW and hopefully the bright green Lexi

if Eaves stays with Team Dynamics, then looks like it will be orange Halfords.

VXR last year had Smith (no driver yet), Turkington (rumoured to be MG) and Yvan Muller (WTCC SEAT)

Z was telling me, the car is the same as the Leon shown last year in BTCC colours, there still waiting for the actual race cars

Their maybe subtle differences to the mock up, we've alreayd seen, but we were told to day generally, it will be the same.

They are due to take delivery of their first car, in around the next 7-10 days. With the 2nd to follow.

Damn good desicion to run thommo - very logical.

Not sure Darren Turner is the right choice even he's very good.

Lack of FWD experience and the lack of continuity in between subing for thommo will not help him get in the groove on race weekends.

Tom Boardman would have been my choice (even though its not a full works drive)
