This is probably a stupid question but do you get 3 years seat breakdown cover with any new car and does this work abroad as well ?

from Seat Site But no mention of European but all new cars have Europe Wide Cover
All new SEAT vehicles purchased from an authorised SEAT dealer in the United Kingdom qualify for a three-year vehicle warranty, consisting of a two-year unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty and a third-year warranty with a 60,000 miles limitation. Plus, your SEAT will be covered with a three-year paintwork warranty and a 12 year anti-perforation warranty.

I did read that but it only says warranty nothing about roadside assistance or breaking down abroad. I am pretty sure you do get 3 years roadside assistance just no sure if it is abroad as well .just renewing the insurance and don't want to waste money on breakdown cover if i don't need it

Two years roadside assistance for new UK cars according to June 2015 price list. But it does include European cover.

SEAT Assistance (including European cover). Any new SEAT purchased and registered in the UK from an authorised SEAT dealer, is covered free by SEAT Assistance (including European cover) for roadside repairs or recovery to an authorised repairer for a term of two years. Your member of the SEAT authorised network will ensure that all servicing and repairs are carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Terms and conditions apply.

Just had a nice letter from my dealer hoping I'm still happy with the car (1.8 FR) after 6 months and reminding me that it came with 3 years SKODA breakdown cover. They obviously find the situation as confusing as us customers!

Which doesn't cover chips and scratches - what IS a paintwork warranty good for then? ;)

If it's anything like the 12 years anti corrosion that comes with a vw it's not worth the paper it's written on. They will find any way they can to avoid paying a claim for corrosion.

Over the 7 SEATs I have had since 1996, I have had two claims. The first back in 1996 was for corrosion on the inside of the back strip that had the badge name on, and it was sorted under warranty with new parts. Second was on one of my 2013 Biza Cupra wheels, it had corrosion starting in bits under the lacquer, new wheel no bother under warranty. I think having a good dealer helps as he has to put the case to SEAT, and his comments make the difference.

Yeah i think you are right, I argued and argued with c/s and the dealer. They then had a different guy inspect the paint and he agreed with what I was claiming for. Although one rust bubble had a pin hole in it, but only visible under a magnifying glass and that was their way out. They will only pay if the body corrodes from the inside out. If anybody ever has to claim my advise would be so not take no for an answer and keep pursuing it.

On line service booking

My wife's Mii is now due its 2 year service and the Leon comes up shortly. So, to get the extended breakdown cover I tried booking using my android tablet via the SEAT site but on pressing "book a service" just got the "sad face" page not found symbol. Then tried via my PC but again found that while the rest of the site was fine, the book a service bit barely functioned, though I did manage it in the end..

As an experiment I accessed the book a service feature on other VAG sites - VW, Skoda, Audi and Porsche - with no difficulty at all with tablet or PC.

I have reported my experience to SEAT who "are investigating". Anyone had a similar problem?

All Seats come with a two year European breakdown warranty.
Current promotion gives you another year every time you book a service online at you local dealer.
Have had a few Seats and have found you can just book as normal over the phone with your dealer mentioning the 1 year extra breakdown cover and they automatically put it through for you.
This year I even got a written confirmation from Seat telling me my breakdown cover had been extended for another year:)

Yep, I got a similar letter the other week - almost six months after the car had had it's annual service and qualified for the extended breakdown cover.

The total ineptitude that this bunch of muppets continue to display never ceases to amaze me.

On line service booking

So, took the wife's car in for service the other day and dealer confirmed extension to cover. Apparently the dealer puts this through anyway though in theory it has to be authorised by SEAT via the website booking.

Still awaiting a further response from SEAT as to why their site didn't seem to work when VW, Skoda, Audi and Porsche did. (Was able to actually go through the process of booking a service on the Audi site using the reg no of my old A3 (before aborting to avoid confusion for the current owner!).

In their original reply they stated the reason you have to book on line was " to increase traffic to the website " so someone must get a bonus for number of hits!
