Securing a subwoofer in boot?

Just wondering if anyone has any tips on securing a sub box to the boot to stop it moving (or worse still, flying through the car in a crash). I'm toying with the idea of cutting a piece of MDF to the shape of the boot and screwing it down to that, but would rather find another way if there is one as I don't want the extra weight and would also lose a bit of boot height.

Anyone have any suggestions?

there are sub box ties available
or purchase some metal l brackets bolt them to the floor of the boot then to the sub box
or take the sub out the box,bolt directly through the bottom of the box through the boot floor-make sure you dont hit nothing

Some decent velcro allways held mine in place just fine. Unless your on a track or drive like a T**T then it shouldent move while velcrod down.

but if hes in an accident (which is out of his control) then it will join him in the front seat

Always bolt it down guys. Velcro WILL NOT stop the sub box making it's way through you and anything else in the car in an accident.

All,

Besides bolting the subwoofer enclosure down to the body of the car which is a good idea, I instead used Non-Slip Strips. I got a roll from Halfords £5.99, cut 4 pieces to the length and width of the enclosure and stuck them onto the bottom of the enclosure (Self adhesive).

I then tried moving the enclosure around and its actually solid! Just a note that I have a carpeted boot. The two materials work well together!

Took some pictures but not allowed to add attachedments! crap!

I was once tail ended by an old XR3i in a road accident. Fortunately I was driving a Vauxhall Astra.

I had quite a big MDF Sub box in the boot, and the impact pushed the Sub right through the rear seat and almost up to the front seats. I think to an extent, it helped cushion the impact a little (or like to think it did anyway).

I used Velcro - stuck to the boot carpet, then the opposite way to the bottom of the Sub enclosure.
This did stick solid through all driving styles, and never shifted once, very effective and simple.

bolted the sub to a boot shaped sheet of 3/4 mdf, this also vastly improves the sound quality
