errr that one doesn't jump out of my memory Aceman .
Is that Spanner related to mileage or / and date of last service, since I reckon that I get it on a date basis, that's a theory least, obviously if I'd done the mileage I'd get it at that.
He'll know, but if we say his name too often the Seat tooth fair won't appear.
I suspect that it's programmed via the OBC [? or whatever it's called] socket under the steering wheel to tell the cars computer systemwhen next to display it. I suspect that there is no easy combination of button presses that put it off.
This is a BMW one so they are going to be similar

and so it goes on.... cheaper to ask the garage to do it for you in this instance .
Could always try one of the various combinations suggested if you search all posts for 'service reset' such as this one.

Worth a try before shelling out any cash.
Slight deviation from the topic. Anyone notice that there service countdown is a bit less than 10,000 miles. It seems like the dashboard thinks I should be servicing every 9,500 miles not 10,000. I'm at 17500 is and I get 1500 flashing for a sec when I switch on not 2500. Vaguely remember that the countdown was short for the first service too (if that was 500 short it fits with my 9500 theory).
There'll not be as much as 1 pence leaving my palm to purchase a reset wotsit !
thanks for the link jtmac, i'll give it a try, cheers.
Sorry I don't know how to do it and I reckon it's one of those trade secrets that they don't want you to know so would be very surprised if it is in the manual.
If it is any help, when i bought my Altea, JCT600 "said" they had done a service but when I got it home I noticed the spanner was coming on. I took it back and the technician came out to the car and fiddled under the steering column and controls and had it done in about 5 seconds, no special tools used just his hands.
Yes I know I should have asked him what he did !! so one has to assume it is a combination sort of thing.
Cheers
... that was then ... before someone posted, that mainly older 5P models (depending on the ECU?) probably can be resetted via a method, aceman remembered almost perfectly ...klawit said:correct, you get both symbols:
... first, turn on ignition and the spanner will be shown for approx. 5 sec., telling you the remaining distance, until the next service
... followed by the clock, which reminds you, that it will be some xx days until the year is gone when last service was made.
These values have no superficial reasonable connection, as service interval is either one year or (in germany) every 15000km whatever comes first ... so if your service is due within the next couple of days/weeks, the time is relevant for the display and the distance is just measured incidently.
If you have a look at these two pics, you'll find the same silly constellation:

13900 km left but only 7 more days ... because the car only ran some 1100 km in almost one year, as it was a demonstration car from my dealer, where 1/5 (=212 km) of the total distance was on my account.
cheers ... Klaus
PS: if your last question is answered as well, fine ... because manipulating the interval can affect your guarantee ... and just setting the display off via OBD (without "servicing") seems to be impossible so far ... even for the guru(s) in our forum.
Hello Nigel,Yep! That works for me. My service indicator had come on at just over 28000 miles and there was no way that car was going in until 30k. The binging noise of the spanner symbol lighting up was beginning to bug me .
Not any more. Well done Klawit!
