Just done my first 1,000 miles in my 2.0 TDi Sport.

Been thinking about the old thing about changing the oil to get the "bits" out of the oil, but not sure if this is something that is required these days.

What with the cost of synthetic oil, it's not going to be a cheap option, but I intend to keep this car for a 5 or so years and want to keep it in tip-top condition.

Any suggestions on this?

I intend to do the same as I did with my last Leon, let it do the first 10000, have the service done and then change the oil and filter every 5000 from there.

I think leaving it for the first 10000 gives it chance to "bed in" etc.

I think I'll follow Space Coyote's advice, took a look at the oil yesterday and it's REALLY dirty, didn't expect that after just 5000 miles, anyway I'll go with the synthetic they have at the dealer, I'll check what it is and see how well it holds up to my "enthusiastic" driving
