Mine started slipping a fair while ago and have done a couple of thousand miles, it only seems to slip if I floor it at 80 in 6th, and it doesn't seem to have got any worse:confused:

It could just fail compleatly, or carry on and slowly get worse, cant put a milage on these kind of things, if in dbout and know its slipping then simply get it changed for piece of mind, mine wasnt slipping or anything but the dual mas started chattering like hell after the engine rebuild and the play in it was incredible lol.

Also the longer you leave it slipping the more chance you have of increased damage to the fly wheel.
If your planning on changing this anyway then don't worry.
It sounds like its going to last a while if your nice to it, if you keep using the torque low down the revs it could go quickly

Just wondering, did this started to happen afterremap by any chance?

dont floor it at 80 in 6th then , go higher up the revs in 5th first

mine was slipping then went off the road for a few months , and now isnt at all ?? must have rusted a surface on the plates or something

as said if you treat it well, not use torque straight away it should /could last awhile , if its abused and quick starts etc then i cant see it lasting long

Thanks for the replies, no it didn't happen after a remap nutter.

Will change the flywheel as well and the clutch bearing/slave, just a bit surprised at it lasting this long!

Mine started slipping after a remap, like you it would only slip in higher gears at lower RPM.I changed my driving style and it hasn't slipped since, that was 15k ago(touch wood).

Exactly the same as mine, I think I will just adjust my driving style and drop a cog for motorway driving, have you been giving it a thrashing as well, or just driving gently for that 15k?

A mix of driving, sometimes "Spirited" and sometimes just normal. I have thrashed 1st,2nd and 3rd gear on occassion, it is just the high gears i avoid, like putting your foot to the floor in 6th gear at 50mph, moreover in higher gears i tend to feed the power in or drop down a gear to bring up the RPM.

I may be corrected on this, but a mechanical once told me the car can only produce a limited amount of BHP and torgue on first gear starts, its more the 2nd gear starts(which i have never done) will knacker your clutch, someone please correct me if i am wrong.
