Yeah i started doing mine, managed to get about 90% of the top half done....then put a chisel through the top of it. So iv got a new air box top on its way to replace the broken one along with a green panel filter which i picked up on ebay for £2.99!!!

Im using a Dremel with a cutting disc to cut all the plastic fins out. Nearly done now! Just got to sand the whole thing to make it as smooth as possible and cut the whole where the cold air feed is abit bigger. £2.99 was a right bargain for the panel filter. I got mine off of someone on here for £20. Looks brand new though. Was well chuffed :D

They are only £35ish from Bill anyway i think

Yeah i was using a dremel tool thingy but I got fed up and started using the chisel to save time sanding, which was a bad idea.

I smoothed my airbox a couple of weekends back.
Getting the plastic fins out was easy.
Just use a pair of pliers. Hold a fin (start at the end of one) with the tip of the pliers resting on the surface of the box and twist.
The fin will snap off leaving a small amount of plastic which can be sanded down.
I removed all the fins in the box in less than 30mins.
Sanding is all down (really smoooooth) took a little longer because I smoothed the little raised circles too.

    Cheers
    Steve

and dont forget to add the 80m flexi into the the end (£19.99 for Greens 80mm x 1000mm flexi pipe) and combined with Green Panel filter £36 you get gains as good as induction kit, just without the bling.

    :D

Bill could you put a picture up of this pipe? Where does it go? Does it replace the dubious looking pipe that takes air from above the wheel arch lining? Where would you reccomend re-locating the air intake too?

Yeah, some of us prefer the standard look anyway.
Got a nice panel filter off Bill and used a 90mm feed.
Not fitted as yet but will be within the next few weeks.
Smoothing was a pain in the ass but just takes time :)

No I have a custom scoop that was gained from the group buy.

I don't think there is any left but another batch might be made. PM Empi5.
If not I'm sure you can just attach the hose with cable ties to the front grille

Allen if you do 1 more post I can P.M you a guide on how to smooth the airbox.
My feed pipe just sites behind the head light but as you'v got an Ibiza you might be able to get it lower done in the front bumper.
I dont think the scoop that r6 Allan is talking about will fit yours.

One more post...TA DA!! Yeah i was looking at his thinking it wouldnt work on mine. The PM would be very much appreciated, should get all my bits in the post tomorrow so i can start with the smoothing again! What did you notice from smoothing the air box? I read a post about getting a bit more DV noise with the smoothed box and panel filter. Is that about all you noticed?

Your P.M function should be woking tomorrow so I'll send it to you then.

The car felt a bit more responsive with it modded, It just felt a lot better.
If you put the bigger feed pipe on you will also get a small increase in induction roar and then if you drill a few holes in the bottom then you will get even more noise.

Sorry to dig up an old post but has someone got a pic of the finished smoothed air box and is it only for the looks?
