Sound actuator

Finally decided to unplug the sound actuator today. Easy job and took 2 minutes. It's in the middle of the scuttle where the passenger side wiper is attached. Not much room to get your hands in there though.

Gotta say it's nice to be able to put it in Cupra mode without that ridiculous rattle! Plus you can actually hear the exhaust note and the pops and crackles properly now. I would highly recommend it to anyone fed up of the sound actuator. No tools required either.

The link above is spot on.

I have been driving around with the back seats down today so I can hear the exhaust. My missus told me to grow up. She is probably right.;)

Anyway, still loving the Cupra's performance, and I tend to get bored very quickly with cars. This one is a keeper, with no issues in 14k miles. Famous last words lol

I disconnected the noise box after the first week, artificial and droney. The engine has a decent note to it to start with and makes the car far more pleasurable to drive.

Thanks for the intelligent and constructive comment

Now I remember why I don't bother posting on here more often.
Tbh that sort of comment isn't normal from this community IMO.
Thanks for sharing though, it doesn't bother me to that extent, yet.

Why would you want to that, if you don;'t like the car then don't buy it!
For the same reason a lot of others on here modify their cars from 'as sold' , if I have to explain anymore than that to you, you clearly don't understand.

ignore him. He is not representative of the vast majority on here ( I know, the voices in my head told me) I disconnected the thingy on the LCR because the annoying drone got on my tits ( like being married, but none of the benefits, if there are any ;) ) and it is on the to do list with the 290. Enjoy :D
P.S, never grow up. I've met a few and they tend to be tedious dullards. Stay juvenile. Better that way.

hi
I'm not disconnect, but I have obdeleven (OBD11) and i changed to 40%, it is much better than 100% Sound actuator.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, this is an open forum, I have owned SEAT cars for over 20 years, no issues apart from a replacement ECU under warranty. Current car 290 DSG excellent car, does what is says on the tin!

Yes, I was just trying to write an informative post and it seemed that you completely misread it. I think it's a great car, only foible was the ridiculous sound actuator. The sound it makes actually bares no resemblance to what the engine is doing. Now I get all the characteristics of Cupra settings without that rattling ****.

Anyway, glad you are pleased with your 290 and seasons greetings.

Madhatter, Have a great Christmas, SEAT cars have their issues like any other car, however they are VW technology, build quality and performance. I am very pleased with my Cupra 290 DSG, great car I

I've watched the video showing the disconnection of the sound actuator.

After the guy disconnected it he said he highly recommends turning off the actuator using vagcom or vcds. Is this really necessary and if so, why?

Mine's at 20% and I rather enjoy the internal surge it gives me (not the car) at that noise level. Clearly the actuator is very much a personal thing, with no right or wrong answer. Go for what is best for you.

Guys

I drove a 265 today and in Cupra mode seemed really 'boomie'. Am i right to assume that was the Actuator? Not keen at all.

Madhatter thanks for post.
