Think when turning the key in the lock, you have keep turning it a few times, till the red light in the door stops flashing to confirm its gone off.

i assume you are unlocking the car manually (turning key in the lock) if so then you have a set amount of time after to turn ignition on or the alarm will go off.

Tried that!
The alarm goes off the second you open the door.

Main dealer had to reschedule the cars last service as they couldn't stop the alarm after I left them with car & spare key.

It was fine last year at service, and spare key isn't used any other time.

does the spare key has immboliser built in? if the alarm does go off and the key is inserted, the car should detect it and off the alarm

does the alarm arm when you lock the door (turning the key in the lock) ? if not then it would suggest that there is a problem with the lock or the wiring as the alarm doesnt know what the key is doing if that makes sense

does vag com say any thing?
