I am just wondering if it would be possible to get a spare wheel for my leon, which doesn't have one and has only the tub of goo and a compressor, as I got it 2nd hand (ex hire car)

I order'd mine with the car{Mk 3 FR SC 180}..90 sod's{£}...that was £30 cheaper than the one I order'd with my last 2010 FR {170} 3yrs ago...only used the 'gunk' once in my 06 FR and was toll 'shight'...managed to get the tyre repaired as some tyre companies are not pleased with hav'in to clean the 'gunk' out...your dealer should be able to order 1 for you just get a quote 1st

I enquired about this and it comes to much more than £90 option price you'd normally pay upon ordering a new car.

I was told that they'd/you'd have to order the wheel, the tyre, the jack and tools. Off the top of my head he said some thing like £200 roughly. The Sales guy said it is always more expensive to retro fit any option when compared factory fit option.

Yes get a quote first and a list Part numbers if you can so other Leon mk3 owners can consider this if they need.

When I bought my 6 month old 2013 FR, the deal was that they swop the repair kit for a spare wheel. They just swoped it over from a new car as some come with spares.

After buying my car without a spare (it would have to be factory ordered just for that) I wanted a retro fit one. I was told SEAT don't do a spacesaver, but they supplied one with a Fiat Punto label on it (they are Fiat dealers as well).

Don't know how this came about, but as long as the PCDs are correct then any wheel is OK.

BTW, they were going to pinch the gunge etc! I insisted it was mine, and they could make me an offer for it if they wanted it. They declined.

When I sell the car it will go back in and I'll sell the spare on.

If people are speccing new I think (at least looking at the order sheet for mine) that spare wheel is free with seat sound.

^^ It was not when I got it. You had to spec the spare wheel to allow you to spec seat sound as the sub goes in the wheel.

Hi all

Does having the spare wheel kit reduce the Leon boot capacity?

Cheers - Andy

no, it's under the boot floor. I suppose you could stick things in there if you didn't have one.

If you don't have the spare there is a polystyrene insert which contains the compressor and the bottle of sealant.

It leaves loads of room for storage under the floor.

I don't know why they went to the expense of a proper compressor when these aerosol bottles of tyre sealant do a similar job and are much easier to use.

I opted for the kit as I have only had one puncture in the last 30 years!

dealer swapped my tyre repair kit for a space saver when I got a 2nd puncture in short space of time. didn't charge me a penny just did straight swap over

tyre repair kit I was told not to use as its new tyre job, majority of garages don't like repairing tyres after a tyre repair kit
