I'm thinking of changing my LC - and one of the possibilities for my next car is a BMW 525d.

However, one of the things that I'm thinking about is the noise from the exhaust. I love the "sporty note" that my car gives, and don't really want to give that up. Obviously the sound from the engine is going to be different in a diesel, but can you get a "sporty" note froma diesel exhaust?

Excuse my ignorance, be gentle!

You can, but the 525d will be very quiet. Been in an Alpina D3 and you couldnt tell it was anything really!

You can get a sporty noise, look at all the FR TDis with Milteks :)

For the sweetest induction sound get yourself a BMC CDA Carbon Fibre Induction kit coupled with a decent straight through exhaust... You won't believe how it sounds!

Remove the back box from the 525 and you will get a nice burble. You can go all the way and do a mufflerectomy.
