Yeh I noticed that got some when I checked it on an app I have. To be honest it didn't take long for it to come up on there as stolen

Friends that lost both their cars from their front driveway while away on holiday - their son was notified that the back door had been forced by police. Police etc found nothing, the Golf and A6 had been used to hold up some taxis and the crowbar used to open the house back door was used to open the taxis doors.

A month or so later, Edinburgh parking department started to get annoyed with her for not moving the Golf or paying the fines, so a final court order was put in place, by then, the insurance company owned both cars and the police dept, who run the parking wardens still had not found that car - but they had placed many no parking stickers on it. The A6 turned up maybe 50 miles away parked on a residential street and had been left there parked for many months before someone reported it to police.

I live in Halifax, there's not that many Cupras or even FRs around here, mainly just peasant spec SEs so I'm surprised it took them so long to find it. If the plebs that steal cars here are anything to go off though they've probably added an extra 0 to the milage by now.

The only cupras I've seen are 280s, I've only seen 2 290s and the whole lot have been near work in Leeds or in Leeds itself

I don't think for one minute that they were actively looking for it, it'll have just dropped on their lap somehow

I'm just outside Leeds, didn't see any a few months ago, now I regularly see a 5dr and an St (both new 290's) , the copper badges make them easier to spot

If a SEAT dealer sold it they should make the buyer aware it was a stolen car/recovered. But as a buyer you should also do your homework... ie checks.

I doubt a dealer would take it back to be honest. I think an independent would, I know a couple that buy lightly damaged cars and fix them to sell on. They keep records of the damage and repairs (photos etc) to show the limit if the damage but its still buyer beware. There are also more and more people like me buying them to strip for parts or fix up and sell on or even keep!

Glad to hear it has been found, even if it is all too late for you. Interested to hear any updates from the police

Well an Audi main dealer recently sold on a seriously heavily damaged R8 that they had bought at a "seriously heavily damaged cars only" auction, it passed all normal available checks for previous accident/write off involvement - but then someone posted its auction entry details. Okay it was rebuilt and still had plenty Audi warranty left, but if you wanted one of them, found one ever so slightly cheaper than normal with no quoted reason for that, then you might just have bought it as a perfect never had any damage car, but if you knew the history, I'd think 99% of people would walk away - that is the issue and if that car ever got traded back in to a specialist used car dealer and they checked it over they should discover the major rebuild and that would be reflected in the price offered, and that might just annoy the current owner enough to go public on what had happened to them.

They got in the house while we were asleep and took the keys along with 2 Omega watches, one real one fake. I've now just installed a new house alarm, upgraded all the locks and handles along with a Patlock on patio door and just in the process of getting cameras. Looking at a price for a drive bollard and then getting a steering lock and possibly tracker for next one

I bought my Carbon from Huddersfield, literally visited to see it, then again to pick it up.

Wouldn't he have got a massive parking fine in the mail way before the next year came around?
