Strange sensors?

Hi all,

I have an 05 leon with 1.4 16v bca engine that up until recently has been really reliable!

I had the common issue recently with the temperature, fuel and speedo gauges reading all over the place when driving. I followed the loom all the way through from the dash to the sensors and there are no breaks / rubbing anywhere so i thought i would just order new sensors and be done with it........

My speedo sensor in the gearbox only has 2 pins but all the otherwise identical sensors i can find are 3 pin....hmm weird

Went to order a coolant sensor and my sensor is a screw in single pin sensor not the 2 or 4 pin clip in sensors that lots of googling shows everyone else has?

Has anyone got any idea what i have or where to get correct parts?

Thanks,
Harry

No idea when i comes the 1.4 really mate. Hortons seat (sponsor on here) will be able to find the part with your VIN and give you a price for OE parts though http://www.seatpartsshop.co.uk/frontend/contactUs

If you want to look yourself then it should be listed here, http://www.oemepc.com/seat/ it's just a case of trawling through until you find the right one.

Is this a common problem on the 1.4 then as not heard of it before. I have had issues with the dash cluster itself on my 1.8T, but it only happpened on icy mornings, was the crap soldering on the plugs at the back.

Sensor and wiring to the speed sensor can affect the dash in all vag/Audi/seat ect. Because the box is pretty much the same design across the range the issue follows. Dirty or petrol is doesn't matter. First sign you will see is funky speedo readings bouncing about if it's wiring. As you speed up the speedo plays up, on lift of the speedo works fine.... connection breaking and connecting as the engine moves about.
Was hard to find on the tdi I had but got it in the end. Also had the issue of hard cut at 3.5k in the TDI....not sure what would happen in a 1.4 or 1.8t. temp gauge and lights ECT all worked fine....only speedo and fuel gauge and the ability to have full boost psi was affected.

My issue was wiring not the sensor....as the speed goes up...the wire broke connection all the cables looked fine. Six inches of new cable and the issue was sorted. Have a feel down there and play about with the cables...see if it helps before going down the money route. May find it to be a near free fix.

Thanks for the feed back where abouts was your break andrew? I have stripped the loom at all the bends and anywhere that looks like it could rub up to where it runs behind the dash.
Does anyone have a copy of the wiring diagrams? It might be faster to just pull new cables in and rule out any wiring issues in one

Sorry for the delay, only just seen this now.
The break was right near the plug, I guess it was abused at some point...I went and followed the guide and lifted the battery out a hundred time I just went with the wobble a bit and drive, pop the bonnet wobble a bit more and drive...went on for three four weeks like this.
On the o2m box as you look at the engine the sensor is basically on the diff right in front of you under the gearbox linkage cable's
