suspension problems

my car recently failed the mot on a few small issues, one being the front shock absorber has excessive play on the pivot. which part is the pivot? i have new strutt tops and bearings and coiovers which are relatively new.

i was thinking about getting new coilovers anyway but wandered if the mk2 setup wil fit a mk3? i cannot seem to find any specifically for mk3

any help apreciated

There are plenty of units for the mk3. Just look at the years they will fit.

okbut what part is the pivot? the suspension along with the strut tops and bearings have been fitted (new) very recently along with new bolts etc.
thegarage told me that my pipes are corroded aswell but i have had a look and they look brand new to me

Not sure what they mean by the pivot... Maybe the strut bolts aren't tight? (the 2 bolts at the bottom of the strut that bolt it to the hub)

i wondered about that aswell but they are ok, tops are tight enough.

think i may query my mot anyway as some of the parts they have listed as fail seen perfectly fine
