TDI Sport: What a Car!

Just completed my first 700 miles.
Since Saturday!
Averaging 53/gallon. I'm v. pleasantly surprised at the smoothness of the car.
Performance is effortless.
I also think the handling is better than sometimes suggested on the forum. Maybe the strubrace has something to do with this.
Not so good around town, but maybe this wil improve with more miles under the belt.It really seems to smooth out at 60 mph and above.

I have to say that after a Ford I am also very pleased with the build quality.

Welcome to the site. I notice you went for the family option of 2 extra doors, it would be interesting to see if you get any creaks and groans later on in your ownership (not that there are many anyway so don't worry).

The only question left to ask then is 'chip or not to chip' :D

I went for 5 doors, partly because I have a family, but also because 5 doors are easier for loading stuff into the car for work.
I've always had 3 door cars, but found the long doors a pain in car parks etc.
So far no rattles or buzzes at all.
Sadly I think chipping is out, because I contract hire the car, and I suspect the lease company would not be too happy if I did.

How about an easily-removable tuning box :D

I wouldn't have thought so.
I think all they do is just sit in the sensor wiring and modify various parameters to fool the ECU into providing more fuel etc.

There's quite a few.

Here's some that advertise in Diesel Car mag:

The Original Tuning Box (www.tuningbox.com)
Bromleys Tunit (www.tunit.co.uk)
TD Performance Tuning (www.tdperformance.co.uk)
Rossiters Powerlink (www.rossiters.ltd.uk)
DMS (www.turbodiesel.uk.com)
Eastcoast Racing Powerbox (www.dieselchiptuning.com)
Marsden Electronics Diseltech (www.marsdenelectronics.co.uk)

Disclaimer: I know little about these companies, other than they advertise in DC. Up to you to find out if they're any good !

There's probably others makes too !
