Back on the farting topic; I managed to get a much louder high load fart on my way to work today. I was driving at like 50-ish kph (30mph) in Sport mode and with the gearbox in manual, I then punched it and got a kick-down, must've been to 2nd gear or so. When I shifted I swear I heard a fart out the exhaust, a loud one too. I'll try to recreate a similar situation today or tomorrow to see if I can do it again.
As requested by @CraigElliott. 2019 290 5DR BW38 pre copra exhaust lay out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So I’m not very good with this kinda stuff.. so anyone know what part is the resonator if it still has one? This exhaust looks very different to the 2019 ST with the GPF fitted.
That long rectangular box is still a resonator - the round can at the front appears to be the GPF - so it would seem the 5 doors could possibly still be eligible for a res delete!
Agreed that looks to me like the resonator is still in play not like in my picture of my MY19 Coppra ST! So 5 door owners may be ok. Need to see underside of a Copra 5 door. It's all a bit random as the guy with a non Copra 18 plate mystery blue ST who I saw on Wed at Performance Parts wasn't expecting the same problem as me...I.e no resonator to delete anymore on the newer STs. SEAT must have started to fit the new exhaust systems on the non copper ST cars just before the copper badge change over.
Really impressed with the soundacktor in this version. More realistic and grown up compared to the 280. It's actually a nice compliment to the car. I was ready to turn it down with OBD11 before I drove it. No desire to do that at this stage. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
It does sound good and people can't believe it's fake when you tell them. I only turned it off as I've grown to prefer listening to the exhaust grumble.
Anyone know anyone with a 5 door copper badged 290? Really interested to find out if I can actually get a Res Delete or now when the car comes.
I found out today if you put the car in eco mode in the individual setting it turns off the soundacktor. You can then pull down on the gearstick to put the car in sport or move it to manual and the soundacktor stays off. I think I prefer it with it off this is the first time I heard the dsg farts as well although there more a thud and not very loud. Also note when you get back into the car it doesn't stay in eco mode but the soundacktor stays off bonus.
Hi, I haven’t posted on this thread before but I found it via another thread, Who’s ordered a Cupra. I’m waiting for my Cupra to hopefully arrive in early March but was already very interested in this topic beforehand. I’ve found this video some of you may like but it’s with the 2016/2017 Cupra 290. @ 3:40 the guy showes how to constantly get the exhaust to pop. Here’s the link if you’re interested Enjoy
The new 290 is similar in that regard, you can get the exhaust to pop when you want, but not quite as loud as the old 290... Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
So the past days I've been trying to get good footage of a louder high load fart. It's taking a while to even find a suitable area for experiments. It needs to be an area where you start at low speed, but not too low as that will just cause wheel spin, and not too high as you'll be going too fast very quickly. I found a decent spot where I could accelerate from 15-ish to 50-ish and made some recordings. Sadly my GoPro made a mess of it and the material is basically unusable... I'll have to make another attempt soon, probably next weekend. The good news is that, given the right circumstances, I can get it to fart somewhat reliably. Sidenote: jeez this car is fast. I really don't get why anyone would get a tune on this. The awd ST, maybe, but anything more in the 5 door will just end up in lots of tire smoke... Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
Can confirm, freshly landed (BW46+?)Copra has the same Cat>GPF>Resonator as the pics of the 5dr above.
So it looks like instead of the traditional res delete where the GPF is now, it's more of a central silencer delete? Does that make sense? Wonder if a removal makes much difference to the sound......
I'm getting roughly the same results in my 290. It has to be really warm though. The DSG farts are nowhere near as loud as the older 290/300 model. I also find that the tyre noise drowns out the over-run pops. I'm still a bit disappointed to be honest but the standard exhaust rumble when driving normally seems to be a lot meatier than before. Otherwise it's a fantastic car, stupendous on the go performance compared with my old 280. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
