The third-generation Leon has been unveiled yesterday (27 September) at the Paris Motor Show. Sporting the new SEAT logo, the five-door model is the first of an all-new Leon family that will widen the car's appeal. A sportier three-door (SC) version will be available for delivery in July 2013 and a more practical estate (ST) version will be available for delivery late 2013.

The new generation Leon's stunning looks, high-quality interiors and new engines combine fun driving with fantastic economy and low CO2 emissions.

While the new model is shorter in length than the outgoing model, its longer wheelbase results in a more spacious interior. It's also the first car in its class to offer full LED headlights, and it features a groundbreaking driver drowsiness detection function and an automatic lane-keeping assistant.

FR models come equipped with SEAT Drive Profile, a system that allows the driver to alter the characteristics of the power steering, throttle and, where a DSG gearbox is fitted, the gearing.

There is a choice of three trim levels (S, SE and FR), manual and DSG transmission and CO2 emissions from as low as 99 g/km, with prices starting from £15,670 RRP on the road.

The all-new Leon opens for ordering on 1 October, and will be available in SLi from November for Dealers to place orders. The first deliveries will arrive in March 2013.

Engines -
At the greenest end of the spectrum, the Leon 1.6 TDI 105 PS with Ecomotive Technology returns 74.3 mpg and 99 g/km*, while even the most powerful version at launch, the 2.0 TDI 184 PS FR, boasts a startling average consumption figure of 65.7 mpg, with 112 g/km CO2* – helping it to complete the 0-62 mph benchmark in a rapid 7.5 seconds.

Available with five- and six-speed manual gearboxes, as well as the highly efficient and quick-shifting seven-speed DSG twin-clutch automatic, no Leon from launch will exceed 140 g/km* CO2 emissions. In fact, every engine bar the high-performance 1.8 TSI 180 PS puts out less than 120 g/km*.
