I'm starting a new job next month which will see me out on the road a lot, so I'm itching to give my car the road warrior package ; SatNav, DashCam, better radio, scythe blades on the wheels and pintle mounted .50 cal MG on the passenger seat etc... 
Anyway I was having a look around the rear view mirror with regards to mounting a dashcam and the thing falls off in my hands. Whilst figuring out how it goes back on the mount I noticed two things - one being that the rain sensor that had always displayed error from day 1 had a loose connector. Plugged it in firmly and no more errors.
Second being a small flap at the front of the overhead console which when you pull it down - acts as a sun visor behind the mirror. I've had the car for over a year now and never realised.
