Toledo 2002 1.6 gearbox (automatic)

hey guys.

I am told by the service center that i need to replace the gearbox, how can i look for the part number, and is it the same on 1.8 engines? i am told it is a VW engine and gearbox. and where should I look for such information...

I know a breaker who has many VW golfs.... if the gearbox is the same or if i can match the part number i may be able to get a good deal.

Looked on ETKA and there are two auto gearboxes for a MY02 Toledo, one for the 1.8 and one for the 1.6. I do not think they are interchangeable

1.6 transmission code FDH part number 01M 300 032 NX £1789.35 +VAT, additionally an exchange surcharge of £870 + VAT.
1.8 transmission code FDA part number 01M 300 032 F £2744.13 + VAT

so I would look for a second hand one!!! I am not sure if the part number will be on the gearbox but the transmssion code should be

thank you spareman for the reply, is there a way you can tell if that transmition is used on a volkswagon GOLF or any other VW ?

My local VW dealer do say: Beetle, Bora, Golf from 99 onwards, also Leon of course!
