Tom Coronel will drive a brand new SEAT Leon in the 2006 FIA World Touring Car Championship. The Dutchman’s main goal this year will be winning the Independents’ Trophy and his campaign will be supported by SEAT Holland.

“As a driver you always want to compete at the highest level and in my opinion the WTCC is the highest level of touring car racing. Two years ago I won the Independents Trophy when the championship was still European. Now there is a World title there to be won. Last year we came close, but Lady Luck was not with me in the last few races. Things are looking good now,” said Coronel.

Xeno Grimmelt, General Manager of Pon Car, the Dutch SEAT importer, commented: “Both SEAT Sport and SEAT Holland were impressed by Tom Coronel’s result last year. Not just because of his results in the WTCC, but also by his off track activities for SEAT. He has become a real SEAT ambassador.

This was an important factor in our decision to support him with a new SEAT León in the WTCC.”
