Turbo Oil Seals

Taken the car in to the dealer as I’ve had a really noticeable whistle coming from the car in the last few weeks. Calms down as the car warms up but never totally disappears. They have diagnosed a failure in the turbo oil seal. Bit stunned by that as the car has only done 12.5k miles. Luckily it’s a new turbo that’ll be done under warranty but has anyone else experienced this? Possible causes? My car is a 1.4 TSI 150 ACT, 2016.

These 1.4's seem to have a variety of issues with the turbo, my dad's FR that he got brand new in July has just gone in to have something done with the turbo because the EPC light kept coming on - error was "Charge pressure actuator mechanical malfunction". I was reading up on it and seems like that one is common, along with some others particularly on the Skoda forums.

I’ve not had any lights on but the whistling was horrific!! Don’t think it was far away from throwing a light though.

Heard a while ago while in an audi dealership that one cause of turbo failure is the stop/start as while cold the turbo bearings can get short of oil. Not sure if this is true as would have thought that VAG engine testing would have identified and sorted this type of issue. However not taking any chances, my 2016 FR 1.4 has had the stop start disabled from new.
