VAGCOM - Birmingham Anyone??

Hi chaps,

I have been trying to get to the bottom of a problem i'm having with my turbo (see http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=251970 ) and have been advised to get my car hooked up to a VAGCOM, which I have no idea what that is or how it works.

So, does anyone here live in Birmingham or near Birmingham who has a VAGCOM and would be kind enough to read any fault codes for me?

Thanks in advance..

I seem to be spending my time between my home town of Wolverhampton, and my current contract in Coventry. If you can get to either location I'm sure we can take a look.

Coventry seems good! What days/times are you there?

I'm surprised with Birmingham being such a big city that there isn't anyone with VAGCOM :=(

Hi

Im in Great Barr, B42.

I'll help as much as I can. I'm pm you my number, drop me a text to arrange.

Nice one for that b21playa! Thanks for your help yesterday, top man!

I can't see anything there that remotely suggests turbo issues? That's all comfort stuff.

Yeah, I know. That's what's puzzling me! Though I did take it for a spin, got i up to about 85mph an the turbo didn't cut out. But I know that the problem definitely exists 'cos it's happened on the motorway twice in the last 2 months!

So what do you recommend/suggest? EGR valve clear-out?

Also, what do the other fault codes mean? Are they all electrical faults, and if so, is it expensive to sort out?

Cheers.

I'd ignore the intermittent ones, they may just be ghosts in the system. The interior sensors may have been unplugged, I'd be surprised if all four have failed at the same time. And the same with the CD changer, it's probably just been unplugged. Don't forget, those codes will remain even after they've been plugged back in again, so you might be looking at expired codes.

Did b21playa reset the codes after he read them? If so, do a few hundred miles then check the codes again. You might find that they don't come back, in which case there's nothing to fix.

Interesting. I no longer have my CD changer as I took it out and replaced it with the Connects2 mp3 device, and as for the other codes, I had that cylindrical thing under the back seat (the fuel thing) cleaned out a few months ago, so would that explain the other codes? I mean my fuel level indicator on the dash works absolutely fine, no problems, as well as the temperarture sensor so I think you may be right, perhaps it may have just logged them..

As for the codes being cleared, i'm not sure... b21playa, did you clear the codes..?

I haven't had time to hit the motorway yet, but when I took it to 80/85mph that day, it didn't cut out and normally it would. But i'm gonna take it down the M6 tomorrow evening to test it out again..

Will keep you posted.

How do you get it to 80/85 on the M6? I'm lucky to see 50! :D
