I’m a bit past 30,000 miles and have read that a VAQ Differential Service is Required.

I am looking at probably doing the DSG oil service a little earlier than the recommended 40,000 miles but am confused as I have been told by one garage that the VAQ Differential “shares” oil from the DSG.

Apparently during a VAQ service, there is a strainer to clean and a pump to check in addition to an oil change but I am trying to get a straight answer as to whether there is a requirement for two separate oil changes. or one, as other garages have not mentioned the concept of this being one closed unit.

    Thanks in advance

    They’re separate...DSG at 60k km, Dif at 3yrs
Probably avoid the garage that said they’re the same (though at least they knew it has a dif which is more than I can say of Lookers).

I am going through the exact same process (trying to get clarity over what’s required) and have been given various different answers from different places. The garage my car is in today, as it happens, have been told by VW (not seat afaik although they are also checking with them today) that the oil change is the ‘same’ too. My initial instincts were to question this, given the Existence of the manual transmissions in the Cupra. I have tried numerous times to get answers from local seat dealers but most don’t know what I’m talking about.

Garages are a minefield! This was a VAG specialist and was more expensive than some other quotes I’ve had from their competitors.

Another asked me about my cam belt and if it needs changing.

Managed to get a quote for the diff service, along with the dsg service, which I want doing:

Front differential oil change: fixed price of £133.20 and is recommended every 3 years.
DSG oil change: fixed price of £199 and is recommended at 40,000 miles.

Do those figures seem legit? I think the dsg one is similar to a quote I got a while
Ago, but the diff one seems a bit high...

Sounds right to me, I recently rang lots of garages to get quotes for the same job and most were a bit dearer than that. I finally booked in with a Skoda main dealer for next week because a. They sounded like they knew exactly what they were doing (and knew the correct intervals without checking) and b. Were a reasonable price, £199 for the DSG and £125 for the LSD, all inc VAT and a courtesy car. :)

Have I not spotted a thread on this forum before about this, and the workshop instruction is to only drain and replace the diff oil, whereas removing the screen gauze and cleaning it should be getting done as it gets clogged up?

So, to anyone getting any trans fluid replaced as part of a service, maybe ask if they are removing and cleaning the screen gauze in the case of the LSD, I'm guessing that the DSG box has a filter that gets replaced every time the fluid is changed. From the picture in that other posting, wrt the LSD screen/gauze, "it does not need checking/cleaning" is not the answer you want to hear.

Cheers for the reply. Tried myself to ring round a few local Skoda/vw garages but they weren’t up for it. So booked it in for slightly more than you were quoted. Not too bad in the grand scheme of things.

Had my brakes all done last week, so once these two final items are done I’ll be popping down to the tuners to get some more horses released (along with a possible dsg tweak).
