VW RCD 300 in Altea ?

Recently purchased a Seat Altea 04 TDI Sport and the stereo doesn't work due to the previous owners children filling it with coins.
Anyway cant seem to find a replacement with a code for decent money.
Am aware that fitting the VW RCD 310 will cause battery drain issues due to the canbus.
But what about the RCD 300 fitted to older VW's like the touran etc ?

Yes it'll work with no battery drain and is plug and play.
However, it is a horrific stereo, honestly.

There is also the old MFD2 that has disc satnav, but for the money you are better with an RCD310 or 510 and updated gateway.

Ebay 221518483424 gets you a genuine non drain gateway, a reasonable VCDS owner will take a few beer tokens to recode it and the Altea is amongst the easiest cars to get at (behind glovebox).

Yes it does, I got one lately to put my car to standard and it is much better than the 300 unit

I could swap and code an Altea gateway in 15 minutes, as could many others. Do you know of someone nearby with VCDS?

Sadly no I don't know anyone. Were are you located ?
Also just to clarify no matter what year or vehicle a rcd 300 came out of it will plug and play with no battery drain ?

Yes RCD300 will fit and not drain. I might have one with code from my old mk5.

Guys, sorry to hijack, but now he's sorted this has given me inspiration to carry on with my 310 install.
What is involved in coding the new Gateway?
My brother has VCDS and I have little to average knowledge of using it, managed to turn on the CD changer function for the original stereo OK.
Also, how does the glovebox come out, pollen filter cover panel off? Have seen 2 torx above it, I assume 2 more or so below?
