I'm looking for a VW specialist rather than a Seat main dealer, anyone know of any in the central belt?

I've always had good service with W Livingstones over the past 6 years, and if you need a main dealer I would recommend them. But my ibiza is 6 years old now, done a lot of miles and starting to look rather tatty. I'll never sell it privately now, only trade in, so too not worried about the service history anymore and don't want to pay main dealer prices for servicing.

There is about 4 VW garages here in Edinburgh, but i'm not sure of anything close to you

Western being the best one that i've experienced so far and where my mum bought her polo.

Where abouts are you? There is J.Gracie in Duntocher who is a VAG Specialist (I have used them for my remap and a few others have used them for servicing)

W Livingstone are much better than Arnold Clark in Alexandra Parade Glasgow. Arnold Clark took 2 weeks to order in a headrests. W Livingstone took a day to replace a broken spring under warranty. Arnold Clark's customer service pish compared to W Livingstone's 5 star service!!!

w.livingston excelent

first of all i must disgrace arnold clark . as i was stupid enough too buy a car off them and a 2 year warranty. first of all got first problem of engine management light on . took it too alexander parade glasgow , had it in twice for two whole days ? everytime got it back and light came on within 1 hour of coming home? they told me it was a tank of dirty fuel , oh how they where so wrong [:@]. had enough of this and there bull s**t . so i took it too w.livingstons and within an hour of them having the car they diagnosed it too being a leaking hose , cost£0 they fixed it for nothing.[:@] 2nd . got a service from alexander glasgow seat and they charged me for a part which was under warranty (ball joint ) didnt get my money back. 3rd was needing back brake disks and pads . shopped about for prices , but decided too go to w . livingstone . discussed prices with them and they gave me the best price ever which was about the same as me buying them and fitting them myself . IWOULD RECOMMEND THIS GARAGE TOO ANYONE IN SCOTLAND EVEN IF IT WAS A DISTANCE TOO DRIVE TOO THEM , THEY GO THE EXTRA MILE FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION .PLUS THEY KNOW THERE STUFF . AND GIVE OFF INFO MORE THAN THE AVERAGE GARAGE.

In Praise

Just bought our 4th SEAT from Livingstone's (5th in the family) in ten years i've never had a complaint about this garage. all of the staff are polite and helpful and they often do a job lower than the original quote!

i've just bought an Altea sport tdi, without the spare wheel. yesterday the tyre valve broke . . . spoke to Tom in parts and he's getting me the space saver spare, on other parts of this forum garages have taken £150 - £180 for this wheel, came in at £107! also changed my radio from basic 2 din too bluetooth single din, got all of the parts first time and cheaper than many places on ebay.

i'd recommend this family garage to anyone.

Noticed an ad for one in Bothwell recently - AudiVW Repair Centre, seems to be a branch of one in Duntocher (don't know if that would be the J Gracie already mentioned).

Might give them a try next time - tend to go to Morrisons in Stirling on order to avoid Arnold Clark and Livingstones due to previous bad experiences with both.

Awrite I took my seat leon cupra k1 at W Livingstone back in November for a straight forward Engine Management fault. 2 cut a long story short it was in 3 times and on the 3rd time fixin it they said it was the engine cover that was causin the damage because it was loose so I spent £20 on 2 so called brackets with labour and also my oil cap was missing and the service manager said he told me that the top of the oil cap was missing from day 1... a wee later i stopped a set of lights and movin off and felt a big thud and had no power EPC light was on and then the Engine man light again... Took it 2 Arnold Clark and the engine cover was totally destroyed with a big crack at the bottom of the air flow meter a hink it is and they was only 1 bracket holdin it all on and tht wasn't even tightened correctly!! and also the fuel pump sensor was wrecked so had a parts bill of around £350+ When we foned them up about it they didn't want tae knw about their F**k ups thats their 2nd blip with me 1st 1 really gets me thinking about their head mechanic aswell just cowboys if u ask me

totally agree with you derek I had problems everytime I dealt with w livingstone as you can probably tell from earlier pages in this thread, I would not recommend w livingstone and will never use them again after the experience I had with them, but other people on this thread have not had problems with w livingstone but I can only rate them on the service they have given me:(:(

:( I used to use Morrisons.Sometimes they were fine.Other times they were totally rubbish.
They seem to be more more multi franchise than ever before.
You only need to look at the range of cars they have for sale/are servicing to see the SEAT marque being diluted. That can't be a good thing.:(

Collected my second Livingstones-supplied car today and the third one we've had in our household and I'm delighted with the way they dealt with me and the deal I got. I'm very grateful to Norman and David for their help with my new Leon. :D

Last year my LCR was started running really rough and sounded terrible.Livingstones suggested removing the sump and cleaning out the filter. So I went ahead with that, cost in the region of £200.That never helped so they said next step was to probe deeper by stripping the engine.Quoted me somethin stupid like a couple of grand just for the labour.
Obviously wasn't payin stealer prices for a big job like that.done some research and took it to a place called the Engine Room in Motherwell who seem to know what they are talkin about, lots of turbo'd cars etc in their workshop.(highly reccommended!)
Turns out 1 of the con-rods was slightly bent (who knows how this happened!) which had knocked an oil jet out the way thus not gettin oil to where its meant to go.engine stripped, new cam shafts, con rod amongst other things.Bill for £1700.
But what they discovered on stripping my engine was the filter which Livingstones were have meant to have steam cleaned and charged me £200 for had just had a screwdriver pushed through it to clear it!!!
Took the part back to Livingstones and showed them, service manager looked up the mechanic who done the job and went to speak to him.Came back sayin no that wasn't us must've been the other garage.
Of course the fu**in mechanic isn't going to admit it to his boss.Anyway I got nowhere fast and they weren't interested in refunding me any of the money I paid them for their 'expert job'.

Use to be a great garage as you can see from older post but not anymore they have no customer service and its all about the money for them. Terrible
