Hiya all, now it has got damp and cold me car is making noises at me, sometimes when i put me key in and turn it the coolant gauge beeps and the red light flashes. If i turn the ignition off and then on again it usually sorts it. Is this a common fault? Also i have just done 52,000 miles and have had a letter off Seat saying my cambelt should be changed at 40,000 miles or four years. As my car is a 2004 leon fr 1.9 tdi is this correct? i had an RAC check done last march prior to buying and they never mentioned it.

Four yrs or 40000 miles say SEAT...bit of a grey area which ever way you look at it

Dave you done 52000..so i would replace it or hold out till 60!
Ive done only 24000 and got the letter from SEAT for cambelt at 4yrs. ..too low milage for me but will do it at 5yrs. By then i might have covered 35-40000 miles

yeh seat change there mind alot but hoow can they justify dropping a year off the intervals? the only **** up they made was claiming the 20vts could last 120000 miles and they all started popping at 90-100k.

Yes. Take the lid off of the expansion tank and scrape the 'prongs' with a screwdriver/knife. Just had to do that fix on the Mrs's 1.4S Leon. Loads of people told me that they have had the exact same fault and this fix works 9/10 times
