Today I noticed my tread on my front tires is low, what are the best tires without spending silly money, I have seen people going on about nankangs and toyo proxes, what are you using and how do they perform? Thanks

I've used Toyo proxes seriously good grip especially in the wet and very good wear life lasted at least about 10,000 miles before the car I had them on was wrote off, still had plenty of life in them

I've got nankangs on my cupra, fitted last weekend... no complaints as of yet seem very decent! But the stock bridgestones lasted me 16k miles!

Ahh sweet, I've just got to 18,000 miles and my bridgestones have just hit the wear markers, so I can't complain about the bridgestones really, I work for a body shop and we have got a contract with our local tyre supplier so I get a bit of discount, I've asked one of the lads in the office to enquire about the Bridgestone potenzas (stock tyres) and the toyo proxes should get a price tomorrow

I was quoted £75.00 a tyre on the toyo proxes inc fitting... And £107.00 on the Bridgestone potenzas so it's going to have to be the proxes I think for the sake of saving myself £64.00!

Our Yoko's were £80 all in.

For me I'd spend more than £64 not to have Toyo again. But I hate soft/poor constructed sidewall tyres..

I would but I'm 19 and picking up 200-250 a week so saving that £64 goes a long way haha! When I'm qualified and earning a bit more il happily go for the yokos

Depends what size wheels you've got! I've got the optional SE 16" wheels and had the OE Bridgestones on for 42K (at the front) before I had to change them as they were down to just over 2mm. Yes really! Changed them for Goodyear Excellences which are far quieter and grip much better in the wet. I got mine for £85 fitted at the local F1 centre who price match (they all do). Ring round and you'll see the prices come down plus use the internet.

I'm lusting over these tyres :) but couldn't justify them over the goodyears f1 assy 2... How are you liking them?

I've had yokohama's before and I hold them highly

I've got Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on my FR as they're rated as one of the quietest performance tyres and I've found they make a huge difference to the road noise compared with my previous Bridgstone Potenzas. They also seem really grippy still though I doubt the tread pattern will mean they're much good in the snow, but I'm not too fussed about that.

Definitely would recommend them and they're less than £80 on Camskill.

I have them on 1.5 year.
They're superb in the dry especially if you like cornering and quite good in the wet too.
I wanted an all around performance tire and it's the best I found that performs well in the wet. Keep in mind that they're very soft so expect to pick up every tiny rock off the road. Highly recommended! :)

I have Falken ZE502's on mine, was suggested by my local garage who does all the work I need done on my car and my family and friends cars! Good tyre in the wet and brilliant in the dry, and at only £72 fully fitted they are reasonably priced.
Also they are comfier and not as loud as the AVON's that were on before.
215/40r17 is the size

Which Avon? A tire that offers more comfort has softer sidewalls which generally offers less grip due to its harder compound to make up up for its soft wall structure, amongst other detrimental issues..
