Know what you mean. One of these days I'll rear end another car (my house is by traffic lights) as I watch the waterfall sheet down the back window off the roof.

Oooft, that’s a bit drastic just to watch your waterfall

I have an unopened bottle of Migliore Strata coating here,
I am contemplating using it on the Ateca,
    Thoughts?

What’s the best stuff to use on Black Rubber and Black External Plastics to revive them?

Thinking I need to spruce mine up a bit which leads me onto, How do you stop Polish and Waxes from getting onto the Black Rubbers and Plastics?

For rubbers I use this as it's nice and easy to use - link

I guess to stop them getting onto rubbers you need to stop applying waxes using a 6ft brush lol

External plastics (black) I use either Meguires Ultimate black or Auto finesse Dressle I think it's called for my honeycomb grill etc probably not use them on gloss plastics though...

I use autoglym... it's cheap and easy to apply. I'm building up to trying the gtechniq stuff which is supposed to last up to 2 years! Also, depending on the plastic, you might be able to use a heatgun!

Yes if you want the best results. Washing, polishing, sealing and waxing is an all day job sometimes a couple of days.

Once you have the desired look of the paintwork it's all about correct maintenance or you undo all your hard work and effort (which is far easier to do than what it takes to achieve the finish)

Is Gtechniq still about £40 a tiny bottle? It needs to last 2 years when see the price of it.

If you shop around, you can get it for low 20s. Still a lot for what it is. Keeping in mind I wash my car every week and a £4 bottle of autoglym lasts... well... it's gone past 2 years now and I've still got some left in the bottle. The main thing that puts me off is the prep. With the gtechniq you obv have to make sure the area is completely free of contaminants. I guess because it contains dye!? Whereas Autoglym you can just slap on. LOL.

I use CarPro PERL for black trim + door rubbers - added bonus is you can dilute it for desired results
As for waxing, it depends also on the type of wax you use as some dry more ‘powdery’ than others but just use a clean micro fibre towel to clean in the gaps and as said above use masking tape over plastics/door rubbers to stop them getting white stained

Another vote for CarPro PERL here. Its much much better value and more versatile than most other plastic dressings. It also darkens and restores faded plastics, but unlike the oily stuff from the likes of Autoglym, back to black etc, it lasts ages. One treatment can last months and months. On a new car one treatment could last a year or more.

Even better it seals and protects leather as well as, rubber, tyres, and trim.

I started using Autofinesse Tyre gel on black trim, it brings it back nicely but its not the longest lasting product... just as well I wash all the cars weekly!

What you use for a wash mitt? I've got the gtechniq one (which I like)... but its looking a bit tired.

I'm using two of these, one for upper and one for lower parts of the car.

    https://www.meguiars.co.uk/shop/lambswool-wash-mitt

Quite like them, cheap enough and seem to last reasonably well.

Ooo, yeah that is pretty cheap. I haven't tried lamb yet... I know it's quite popular. But I worry about it shedding.
