I'd say close but with little edge for Petrol, depending if LC is used... TDI could be quicker of the line but petrol would make up for it I think.

Petrol obviously- no smelly penny-pinchermobile could possibly compete!!
Diesels are fine for the "I just did 759 miles for £30" brigade.

if its chipped then its going to be the derv because of the increase in torque power so its not really a fair question if the petrol was mapped aswell (chipped) then it would beat it although at the same time it depends on the driver ! :p

Petrol would lead initially (due to DSG mainly) but the TDI would reign it in easily due to the remap and therefore extra 100+ ft lb of torque.

No idea why I posted as this topic will get deleted shortly. Ho-hum.

From a standing start it will be close, but rolling the leon's superior torque will pull away. I never raced a tfsi when i was stage 1, but i raced a civic type r new shape and off roundabouts in torque i could pull a substantial amount!

diesel - as soon as the tdi gets a little bit ahead the petrol wont be able to see through all the smoke and will crash.

A remapped FR TDI PD170 is good for 200ish brake + The extra 100lb.ft ish its got i do believe it would win

Not sure what a "Chipped" FR TDI would put out

As said above if TDI's are so slow then why do Seat/Sun Red engineering use them to win in WTCC and also in the Past BTCC

Then theres Audi's Le Mans wins in the R10 TDI and R15 TDI

This thread wont get deleted if you are talking 1/4 Mile sprint at for instance Santa pod but if your talking on the Streets then its heading straight for the Scrap pile

I would say pretty darn close try this is actually not far off real figures and is at least like for like:

http://www.letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp

FR TSi DSG (pre FL)
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 199
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1360
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 148.67
0 - 60 (Secs) : 7.20
0 - 100 (Secs) : 18.88
60 - 100 (Secs) : 11.68
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.60
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 90.89
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.40
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 92.45

Superchipped FR TDi 195Bhp (pre fl)
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 195
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1320
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 150.10
0 - 60 (Secs) : 7.14
0 - 100 (Secs) : 18.76
60 - 100 (Secs) : 11.62
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.55
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 91.03
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.35
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 92.60

Not much in it assuming I have the weights correct
