Hi, recently built a mk4 golf with a LCR engine. It's done around 100 miles since being on the road. Had a slight miss fire that turned into a big miss fire and was down to no4 coilpack not working. Changed it for a working s/h 1 for quickness (full set of new vag 1's ordered). Driving today and no3 pack went, swapped that for another s/h 1. Now it's missing again!
I've read loads of stories of how bad these are but why do they go? is it down to heat?
My engine came from a low mileage smashed LCR. The s/h packs i bought came from an even lower mileage smashed TT.

whats an acceptable life of a coilpack?
