Finally got around to removing the factory fit headunit and replacing it with a genuine rns510 unit.

Used the guide on here to hook everything up and got everything working 100%

It was going great before and so far feels the same, although only driven 12 miles since. It was a lot of money, I wasn't expecting the discs / pads but they were mentioned on recent MOT as well so didn't want to risk not getting them done.

Very shiny discs now

Fitted a 2010 canbus gateway module. Not too difficult following a guide on r32 owners forum.

Wiper arms removed
Plastic scuttle tray removed
Drivers side windscreen wiper motor removed.

This then reveals a plastic hatch with three 10mm nuts that once undone
Reveals the module.

My current module was part number 1k0 907 530h which was not compatible with my newly installed rns510.

Once thing I noticed after fitting the new module was that when the rns510 is switched off it no longer makes a slight whirling noise or does it produce any clicks which it did with the original module. Which would indicate that it was not shutting down fully hence the battery drain

Repainting the grill, lacquers just gone on and needs a few days to cure. I’ll then flatten it back with some 1500 grit and then shine up with some rubbing compound.

Drop it off at the garage, to replace rear discs and pads.

I was going to do it myself but I have sneaking suspicion that one of the rear calipers is sticking/pinching slightly so thought best get it to a garage to get it looked.

Looks far better than the chrome. I have some plasti dip and have been meaning to do mine for some time

Yeah I’m not a fan of the chrome, I did have it all black but it was a rush job so the paint just flaked. This time I’ve left the badge itself as I feel it looks better.

I was tempted to plastidip but hear it comes off easily, with that said, it’s easy to correct any chips that may occur. Would be good to see how you get on with it.
