too late, already ordered a green cotton panel filter, £40 seemed like good value. So thats £110 + P&P for filter and forge dv, pretty happy with that, ill let you know how it goes when fitted...

Done a bit of a search but haven't been too successful. Decided my LCR doesn't sound beefy enough under acceleration so looking to get an induction kit - anybody got any sound clips of some induction kits for the LCR so I can have a listen? Cheers!

Indeed some sound clips would be very useful!

I've got a BMC panel, there's defo some noise there that wasn't before. But I fancy a full IK while the weather is nice and cold for a fair few months yet!

Liking the Dynatwist but don't want any MAF sensor problems... :(

How many of you have a Dynatwist and what problems have you had if any?

The ramair seems to generally be considered the loudest induction kit but i have to say, its not the sound i want.

I think I just need to bite the bullet and buy a big v8 to replace the lcr. :)

I'm thinking a Powertec open cone just for the cold winter! Any kind of warm and it'll be useless I know... Had 2 before on a Clio and a Corsa, lasted very well and easy to clean etc :)

Also an awesome noise when booting it!! ;)

Had my K&N on now for a couple of weeks now and had no problems as yet. There are a few different probs that other LCR owners have had but nothing for me. And the sound is great, espeicially with the forge recirc.

Carbonio...and it's quite a lot louder than I expected. I don't know if it's staying or not, although I have to admit to liking the DV noise a bit :)

Ive got the dynatwist with the forge split-r, sounds pretty loud and its a nice note.

Thing is the insulation in the bonnet blocks out a lot of the sound from the dv and induction kit. Sounds amazing bonnet up, but its quite hard driving like that.

Thinking about removing insulation but heard it can warp paint

Revo today so will let you know how loud it gets :)

I got myself a dynatwist about a week ago and i have the pipe going down to the fog light is this the best place to put it or is it best to leave it in the engine bay???

Anyways no problems yet but an amber engine shaped light appeared yesterday but im not sure this is what had caused it. The car is driving fine except at stand still the idle is up and down alot!

Any ideas??

I've been running a K&N cone filter for almost 2 years now, zero MAF problems at all, still on MAF number one, induction and DV both sound great. I removed the underbonnet insulation 2 years ago and had no problems with paint on my bonnet whatsoever.

After trying all sorts of things, I have to agree 110% with Rob. A big open cone does the business. Proven with logs.

I was concerned about a change i made to my filter involving removing the cold air intake feed pipe due to sucking in hot temperatures. I have the Ramair filter on mine, and the cool air feed side of it (the metallic foily pipe) had developed a tiny split probably from constant movement and tighht fit, so i decided to remove it pro-temp.

The noise increase was amazing and i would recommend anyone try it for the sake of 5 mins.., its definetly twice as loud now! The dump valve (forge 007) is a LOT louder, and the intake noise is much louder with the sound of the turbo sucking in the air!.

As for logs, it read about 197g @ 5900rpm (didnt log above that at the time unfortunately).

Im not sure if its because of the shape of the filter without the pipe on the end "echo's" the sound, but definetly louder!

Other things which might factor into it..

. Remapped with Revo so more boost
. Bonnet Insulation has been removed

Will be interesting to hear other people with the same induction kit who try the same. Slight stabs at the throttle at low rpm really gives a deeper noise now too. Will be interesting to see what other change to the sound it makes once ive got the new charge pipe without the turbo silencer and TIP hose on.

Hiya, i have a dynatwist on mine with the feed running down behind the fog light facing the ground about 6" off the ground have not had any problems even with all this rain but today i disconnected the pipe from inside the engine and left the filter like this to hear the difference and boy did it sound sweet!
The engine at low revs sounds deeper and the exhaust too! I have the split R valve and its sounds so loud just like evos and subaru's.

Anyways its back on now but now im missing that sound of a mean beast about to attack. lol

Do you guys think a feed is really needed in this weather???
Confused on whether to remove the feed or leave it on.

This is the dilemma, ive left the pipe off as it sounds a hell of a lot better without! but i dont really feel any performance issues... it still pulls strong.

As i think RobDon has mentioned before, air exits the turbo at 120+ degrees, so it doesnt matter how hot/cold the air comes in at (not sure if theres any way to back this up?)

Its just the same as running an open cone filter i suppose, but with an open ended housing.

Did you try with bonnet insulation off too? only 5 mins to take off..

No the insulation is still there but i have a relocation kit so my split R is plenty loud enough from outside people hear me fom very far. So have you still got the original plastic air feed in place???

Oh and i take it the metal cover around the filter keeps it cooler than not having one?

My paint seems to be cracked even with the insulation inplace
Had car detailed by www.polishedbliss.co.uk, he said it looks like it might have been engine temp. For the shape, location and size of the cracking it is very difficult to say that it could have been anything else.
So remove the insulation with caution, its there for a reason and although some have had no problems is it worth the sound raise??

When i removed the insulation i found the spool noise much louder, not just the dump valve. Give it a blast, only takes 5 mins! I have the standard air feed plastic parts pointing into the engine bay, but no pipes actually connecting to the entry of the air filter. Difficult to explain, but ill get a pic up at some point.

As for cracking, not sure - each case is different, ive not had any problems, and i think RobDon has had his off for 2 years with no probs? I thought it was mainly for sound deadening more than heat insulation.

I know what you mean but pics will be great too.
Anyways what do you think is best for providing some cooler air in to the engine bay? Air feed 6" from ground or air feed attached behind the headlights like the standard pipe location??

Im really considering leaving the end of the dynatwist unattached to the air feed but instead leaving it pointing towards it, hopefully at least providing some cool air to it!

is it worth changing the filter on a diesel??? I only ever had a 1.0l corsa before and didnt really think it was worth it on that and im struggling to think its worth it on a diesel.

This is exactly what i was going to leave mine as. Open ended filter but leave a pipe coming from the original intake (but maybe about 4-5 inches away from the air filter) so that cold air is still getting pointed into the *right direction*.

As i said before, ive tried with, and without the cold air feed for a few weeks with no feel in difference.
