Im gonna revive this IDC need to vent I Just seen this advert " both myself and the previous being GTI enthusiasts" YET HE USES CHEAP CHINESE FREAKING BUDGET LAST OF THE LINE UN FUKIN KNOWN BRANDED TIRES Not to mention two different brands on his rear axle and without valve caps! Ohh but he spent 1700 quid on recently.... GTFO 200ps car with budget tires... Now its off my chest... back on the beer Happy Easter!!
I can empathise with that totally. I do not like 'any' car sitting on budget tyres as a general rule, especially of the Chinese variety (all the way from a Nissan Micra through to a Bentley) Purely from a safety aspect too and it leads to the question 'if you can skimp on tyres, what on earth else has been done on the cheap/bodged or ignored totally' A massive generalisation I know but I would be much happier looking at a second hand car with premium tyres on it as it gives the impression the owner is willing to spend and look after it. Especially an enthusiast.
Dog or not when shit hits the fan and you need to stop every meter counts! Check this out http://www.tyrepress.com/2017/02/auto-bild-summer-tyre-test-the-20-finalists/ Some of those tyres have 6 meters difference between them on the wet. There isn't any info on budget tyres in this test but check this out from 2012: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2012-Autobild-50-Tyre-Braking-Test.htm Nokian stops at 44 in the wet, noname brand Chinese spunk Linglong stops at 60 meters. The last on the test is OVER 70 meters! That's from 50mph! Not only you can't stop with those and avoid damage on your car could can actually kill someone People buy this crap! It's outrageous that these are allowed on the market
Damn right and that's why I am a massive advocate of winter tyres too. It's not just about snow but that all important 7oC. Yeh I know anal about tyres...............
