Hopefully have some updates soon. Having a few problems with the roll cage. Bits missing and bends not right either. And the cage supplier not very helpfull. So a nice strongly worded email has been sent to the MD.
Let's see what happens next

That’s not too good.
Let us know who they are when you get any kind of result.

Just got the message that the fabricator has finished the roll cage and fuel tank. He went out and brought some tube to finish the cage. Now u gotta go to the company and invoice them for my expenses.
This all started 3-4 may be even 5 months ago when I noticed some bits where missing from the kit. So long story short... It's now caged .. pics to follow when I go get it

Garage called saying the fans weren't working (new fuse fixed them), they think the system was pushing out the coolant out of the valve cap on reservoir (explains the dried streaks on it). Told me to keep eye on it again for a couple of days and see how it goes. No charge.

I would buy a new header tank cap. As your one has been over pressured a few times I could have weaken the spring also guessing it's a few years old too

I got a new cap a couple of weeks ago when the trouble started. Might just buy a new tank anyway for peace of mind only about £17 last time I looked.

Not today, but over the past week I drove to the Netherlands and back, so it was a good chance to give the car a good run and make sure everything is OK. Lots of things I thought were wrong with the suspension just turned out to be the British roads. That said, I was getting some 'wallowing' at times, and I also felt like the suspension was bottoming out a few times too, so will be looking at new shocks sometime, I'm guessing?

There's been some noise from the nearside wheel and I think that the bearings are on their way out. Are they replaced in pairs?

For some reason as well, the offside headlight is absolutely full of condensation. The nearside one was replaced after a crash years ago, so I'm presuming it's showing its age a bit, and as it needs restoration it's a good opportunity to remove it and get it looking good again. Any tips?

All in all though, I'm pleasantly surprised. It's difficult when you're starting to do a lot of your own work, but can't diagnose absolutely everything, because every knock and whistle could be so many different things, but the car hit 160k miles on the way back, and there's nothing about it where I'm thinking that the car is on its way out, and I was averaging at least 55mpg on both journeys, so thumbs up on that one!

Best practice to change both wheel bearings at same time.
The headlight might need a good drying out, some people have drilled a few small holes in the back to let air move and some have put one of those wee silica bags inside.
Glad to hear you still enjoying her at such an age

Went to get the car today to get an inspection done and a list made of everything needed to pass German MOT.

Something doesn’t look right here

So went in for inspection, I am extremely surprised... the list is a lot shorter than I expected.

Since y’all can’t read German I will make it easier here.

1. Front O2 sensor replace and clear code
2. Front brake rotors (will also replace pads)
3. Front left inner axle boot replace
4. Replace rear muffler
5. Replace rear anti roll bar links left and right

If all is done within 4 weeks time return to garage and then I get my certificate! Not bad eh?!?!

Then after that I can upgrade the car because I’m able to drive it and don’t have to always take the train to my hobby workshop to work on it. I can work on it at home and drive it everyday and not have to worry about inspection for 2 more years! Yuuhuuu
