I have a 2000 110hp TDI and typically get something like 6.5 L/100km, which works out to be about 44 mpg(UK). I recently bought the car (@ about 108,000km), and it certainly seems low given that it is quite a bit of highway driving (70-80 MPH). It's relatively low mileage given its age at 120,000km.
Any ideas why its low? I use Shell V-power most of the time, and recently had the timing belt, water pump, fuel filter, and oil changed. The turbo was also supposedly cleaned due to an overboost issue and limp mode, though I can still get it to limp if I am full throttle in 4th at about 130kph. Maybe the issues are related. I was not able to get a previous maintenance history (and am regretting it a bit now).
Thanks
