Just been out today and managed 50 mpg on a 20 mile trip which is not to bad for winter although it was 9 degrees which helps mpg.
I always "give it some'' especialy on hills as this helps keep the tubo working by blowing the cob webs out. Driving slow is not good for pd diesels:D

I can get over 50 mpg on single run but over a course of tank from full to empty I get 45-47 mpg. Best was 49 mpg. Got 582 miles.

Was that cruising at about 50mph?

I did 30 miles at 60mph with cruise control on in my ibiza cupra tdi, averaged 53mpg. At 70mph it's around 47mpg.

60mpg was at 65-75mph. I regularly get 55+mpg on my trip to work. These values are from the onboard computer but I find that it's accurate to within 1mpg

I find that in traffic at a steady speed I get good mpg. Better than an open road probably because of the slip stream effect

some may say lala land....
there was an excel spreadsheet on here that nathanio (i think) did
very helpful as all you do is enter in miles on clock & copy receipt info on each fill up.
then it says everything you want to know

i get 50 avg on way to work, about 550 out of a full tank as only ever do full fills, waste of time doing spits 'n' spats

I have a 2000 110hp TDI and typically get something like 6.5 L/100km, which works out to be about 44 mpg(UK). I recently bought the car (@ about 108,000km), and it certainly seems low given that it is quite a bit of highway driving (70-80 MPH). It's relatively low mileage given its age at 120,000km.

Any ideas why its low? I use Shell V-power most of the time, and recently had the timing belt, water pump, fuel filter, and oil changed. The turbo was also supposedly cleaned due to an overboost issue and limp mode, though I can still get it to limp if I am full throttle in 4th at about 130kph. Maybe the issues are related. I was not able to get a previous maintenance history (and am regretting it a bit now).

Thanks

Generally round town/commuting uring the week, i'm doing well to see 36mpg,
on a run to peterborough from sheffield at the weekend i got 44 on the way there and 42 on the way back. Not really hammering it either, took me an hour and 40 minutes to do the 100 miles.

I used to get a consistent 520 miles per tank, but it's dropped to about 475 for the last 3 months. I put this down to having a passenger in the car a couple of days a week and having the heater on constantly.

There are so many factors that can reduce MPG, I was stuck in traffic this morning and averaged 30mpg on a 45 mile run, I normally get just over 40mpg on the same run if there are no cars on the road and if there are cars travelling at a consistent speed in the day time I get about 46mpg.

Does cruise control not reduce your mpg slightly?

I'm getting a pretty consistent 54mpg out of my tdi110, have had over 60mpg using the whole tank one week though! not bad for a 9 year old car :)
