Hi there, have just brought a “67” Alhambra se lux 184 dsg. The steering wheel is off centre to the right on a straight flat road and if I put it in the dead ahead position I would go off to the left. just wondered if this was sort of normal on all Alhambra’s or weather it is just mine? I’ve had the wheel alignment done 3 times and it made absolutely no difference? I have also been told I could need my steering angle sensor recalibrating by the place where I got the alignment done, but I spoke to a local recommended vag specialist and he disagreed and said I would get a fault light on the dash if it wasn’t working correctly and told me its definitely wheel alignment! I would take it back to the dealers where i brought it but is 50miles away and my local dealer hasn’t been the best when I had a previous seat car, any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Ryan

By "67" I assume you mean almost new. I would be seriously worried if a new vehicle was tracking that badly. Have you had it tracked with a laser ? I would take it to a different wheel alignment centre and get them to see if they can locate the fault. It normally does not take much adjustment to put the steering wheel out of alignment. Could the vehicle have been kerbed and have bent steering arm.

Hi, yes it had 1000 miles on it, ex demonstrator. It was set up on the new totally computerised wheel alignment machine so no lasers. I will try a different place on Sunday, if I can’t sort it after that I’ll have to take it back to the dealers as a last resort! Never known this before, normally if it’s out, pop to a wheel alignment place and it’s sorted no hassle! We will see what the weekend brings! Thanks for the reply!

I would have thought that that would still be under manufacturers warranty. Maybe take it to a different Seat dealership.

I eventually got the alignment sorted, but I have a question for other Alhambra owners, if I’m on a completely flat road or drive in the middle/crown of the road the steering wheel is bang on flat/level, if I drive on the left side of the road the steering wheel is slightly to the right ie towards 1 o’clock, but if I drive on the opposite side of the road (the right) the steering is off to the left or towards 11 o’clock, it equally out left and right depending on the camber of the road and bang on straight on a flat straight road. I checked with the alignment place and they said that’s perfect and it just the camber that’s effecting it, and that’s normal. So the question is is it normal? Your thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated!

I have some minor issues with the steering being pulled towards the "tramlines" (where the road has been worn away by volume of traffic) in the road when travelling at slow speeds but other than that it drives nice.
