Wheel bearing failure - covered under warranty?

So, judging from the squeaky rolling noise I am getting, I am pretty sure I have a failed or failing wheel bearing...

My car has the extended 5 year / 60.000 mile warranty, and it is currently at roughly half of that.

Does anyone have any experiences with getting these replaced under warranty?
...if not, what are the costs?

I've never heard a wheel bearing squeak, usually they make a rumbling sound, or something like loud tyre noise.
Are you sure it's not something rubbing on a brake disc?

I have had that before and it sounded different...
Also, a couple of hard braking moves usually gets rid of that but doesn't seem to help here.
It is hard to capture the sound - I need to try and mount a GoPro near the wheel to get a better listen.

Wheel wearing will be rumbling noise, go and ask them to cover it they will either accept it or say no.

I had offside wheel bearing replaced and it cost £102-00 plus VAT for the kit and it was an hour and a quarters labour.

If it is the wheel bearing it should be covered under warranty.

The cars been serviced by the same local SEAT dealer from new (which I confirmed with them yesterday)so should be ok.

The car has been remapped (done by current owner last year) so would this invalidate any warranty??

Thanks

There is no simple answer in my view.

On the assumption its a front wheel bearing

Firstly is the car obviously modified (as you can't see a map visually) and does the dealer know its modified, if it is then they could argue that because you are putting extra power through the wheels its not there fault (or some words to that effect) because you have added extra strain to a wear and tear item (which is true).

Is you local dealer friendly, they may just accept you as a good customer and sort it out for you

I broke mine when hitting a pot hole, if you have a lot of them around again they can say its just wear and tear

As my response above it did not cost a fortune to have it fixed (by my local specialist VAG Garage).

I suppose I can simply ask the question to them. As they already know the car they should be able to tell me whether its in/out of warranty. Like you say, worst case scenario, I just get my local trusted garage to replace it for me.

Thanks

I don't think engine mods would affect warranty. All the wheel bearings do is support the weight of the car. If anything I'd expect them to quibble over track days. Wheel spacers will definitely affect warranty.
