Which engine should I use?

Ok I was kind of set on a 20vt, but tempted by a VR6 instead... What do you recon?

I reckon there's less plumbing & pipes on a VR6

The gearbox will cope easily, and they sound better.

VR6, Fully smoothed engine bay with as many pipes and things hidden as possible. Ow yeah and the super charger kits are cheap and give her some rollox

New or old VR6? Have you seen the corado (sp?) in PVW? looks bloody amazing!

It'd be the VR6 from a Mk3 Golf or Corrado, whichever happened to be available.

2.9 VR6 from the Corrado, not the 2.8 174BHP lump out of the Golf Mk3 / Vento. That said low mileage ones are hard to find.

Are you buying a recon one from someone like TSR Pete?

VR6 just sounds GO good. They are SOLID motors.... and will take modding.

So you can stick a Jackson on it at a later date.

Yeah, that's what I was pondering. I know you said you got peeved off with turbo power delivery, so I would say vr6, but then they come rattier. Unless you're going for a full rebuild that is...

On the 70bhp less, how much power DO you need in a fairly lightweight motor???

But the VR6 is stronger, so the higher milage should not be a big problem. Plus the 70bhp will be easy to get back with a Jackson.

The VR6 will sounds VERY good... so it will complement the inivitable comp standard sound syste,

What are the prices like... if you don't mind me asking Mr.Pete.

Whats the weight difference? Wouldnt a heavy lump in the front make it understeer more?
If it's a show car the v6 would look/sound better tho.
