Its a standard XS manifold but I've asked Bill Badger 5 to supplement the existing welded at the collector with some high nickel welds and a degree of back purging. This can only help.

Bill has done a great job of providing additional weld strength to the collector area where the main heat build up occurs, very neat.
I have installed the manifold and been running it for a little while now and wanted time for it to bed in and needed to get rid of some niggles.
I installed it from underneath the car and must say its not the simplest job i've done on my back. Removing the stock manifold is simple but installing this is a pita and shouldn't be under estimated. You will need to remove the brake pipe cover shielding on the bulhead and shorten the bracket or you will have vibrations from manifold contact. Fitment is far from perfect since two nuts are difficult to get on but despite this they all tightened up nicely and 10 out of the 13 nut i managed to get a torque wrench on. The manifold places the turbo in a slightly different location..... closer to the block and on a slight angle compared to stock, consequently to turbo support bracket doesn't hold it properly however i still manged to get it to provide adequate support. The charge pipe holder/heat shield needs extensive modificationand takes an age of offering on and recutting to get right. The middle nut i replaced with a dome head screw since the stock bolt holds the mani off.
I have read that V3 of the manifold is due out soon but to me the improvements required are more than simply making it stronger.
Performance wise, it lets the car rev more readily and cleanly. You can definately feel an improvement in top end performance but not night and day like i was hoping for. EGT's are reduced and a slight improvement in timing cf's have been seen too.
I would recommend this upgrade but the manufactures need to pull thier fingers out of thier arses and get it right, using a spare engine as a template might help:idea:. I wouldn't recommend home fitting or removing all engine mounts to rock it back into an accessible position, take it to a reputable tuner with ramps etc and you can enjoy the performance benefits without the pain of the install.:)

Hi karl. Can you pm me your phone number? I have some pics i want to send you. As for the v3 being stronger this was the main aim but we have also made it easier to fit :).

No probs, Indeed strength is important but reasonable to fit will make it appealling to more people and tuners a like. I do like what i've seen on your other thread of the V3 and repect to those involved in the desire to make it better. Fitting the turbo to the manifold is quite easy.:) i mocked up the V1 to the turbo before fitting to see how easy that was in comparison and i have to be honest and say that i was unable to reach the hidden bolt even on the floor so much respect to those that managed to fit the V1.

Yeah that last bolt is tricky on v1,v2 and the v3 but i have a little trick up my sleve for that :) but the good thing with the v3 it will slot straight on the block, no tricky nuts, no grinding studs. This means if the mani slots on without issue then the turbo flange will be easier to fit. May even use bolts instead of the stud conversion.

I've got my wmi setup running now and i've tweaked it so that i'm happy with it.
Water only makes a nice consistant contribution but meth allowed me to dial in 3 degrees extra timing that makes for 22 degrees timing high up the rev range. The smoothness and pull it adds to the car can certainly be felt. For reference the D02 nozzel (175cc/min) was great upto 18psi of boost but i'm now using the D03 nozzel (250cc/min) for 21.5 psi of boost.
Lots of playing with settings to look forward to but i'd like to try delivery from maff control to compare to that from the map sensor. Highly recommended.:)

Interesting read lots of food for thought. I can't belive you have so few miles on the clock!
The V3 manifold sound very tempting along with WMI.

Good to hear your out of hospital mate.:) Good news also that the V3's are too far away either. Get the AEM fitted mate your missing out on some serious power gains, set aside a day to get it installed neatly and no one would even know its there.

Most of my miles are to and from RR days etc, shes my weekend toy.
The manifold and wmi make a great performance duo.;)

My latest Power graphs from last weeks RR at Gotboost (Highly recommended)

Power at the fly

Vagcom logs from a run on the day.

I lost some power and torque low down by injecting wmi too early? Hoping to find another 25bhp with future mods and tweaking.
Happy for the moment though.:)
