Hi guys got a intermittent fault with the car but now it seems its a full on problem now as the car just wont start.

Had RAC out and they changed over the coil pack and that didnt help, checked the voltage on the distributer wires and it seems to be losing some voltage somewhere?

When you go to turn over the car it turns over nice but it seems like there is no spark? :confused: the RAC chap seemed to think there is a fault within the distributer but he couldnt be certain (limited tools in his van etc), so he towed it to a garage near me and they wont touch it as they only deal with exhausts and brakes [:@]

Please can someone help :help:

I had a similar problem and still have, try changing the rotor arm and dizzy cap. If they have crap on them it will stop the current getting through. Also check ya spark plugs. hope it helps

Thanks for advice mate but no joy with those already checked them. Think its something to do with actually inside the distributer.

Hi mate

All the distributor is is a shaft with the rotor arm, the only other component is the hall sender which tells the ecu when the rotor arm is coming up to no1 spark plug so it can fuel the injectors. The hall sender being faulty wont stop it running, many people on here have done checks disconnecting it as have i so.

I personally would ignore what the guy said and start from scratch.

you need to find out if its a non fuel issue or a no spark issue.

id pop out the plug from no1 cylinder and check that its clean, if its fouled/dirty then id look at cleaning it up, then connect it to its lead and rest it on the engine and turn the engine over and see if it sparks. if it sparks nicely i would clean the rest up.

If the spark plug was clean and didnt spark or weak then distributor contacts or coil problem, less likely is a bad earth lead.

if the plug was clean and did spark, then turn the engine over and smell for fuel, if no fuel then its probably the fuel relay or fuel pump.

rough check for relay;

turn ignition on and listen for a click, then a second click
on starting should be a third click. all is ok

at the same time listen for the fuel pump.

If all the above are ok, then i would check the timing marks are all aligned properly.
