Had some suspension mods fitted at Awesome gti yesterday.

ap sportfahrwerke coilovers
Whiteline rear anti roll bar
Superpro fast road lower engine bush

I had toyed with the idea of going crazy and getting some fully adjustable coilvers, but i know nothing about properly setting up suspension, so they would get adjusted once and left at that

Chose the AP coilovers after dozens of good reports of there durability, handling properties and comfort. Cant say im dissapointed at all!! Somehow they reduce body roll, but are so much more progressive and comfier than the stock suspension!! Says alot about how harsh the stock cupra suspension is.

But the best thing is probably this rear anti roll bar... to say it transformed the way the car handles might be a bit of an understatment  the reduction in understeer is dramatic.. i drove the car back from Awesome GTI in Manchester back through the peak district... and i couldnt believe the extra amount of speed you could put it through the corners. Cheap simple effective mod.. why are they not standard. Crazy.

So the car now handles amazingly.. its more comfortable.. its a bit lower, but still gets over all humps ive tried.

How it looks now, plenty low enough for me, there is plenty more it could go down, but i need it too be useable. 20mm rear spacers are a must now.

Nice!

What setting is your ARB on? Whiteline is 3-position adjustable right?
I`ve been considering one for a while now, I have standard suspension which will stay - just looking to sharpen up turn-in and reduce understeer.

Edit: never mind, just noticed in the pic it`s on medium!

I have said for a long time now this is one of the best handling mods you can do... it transforms the handling so much! Looks like its on the middle setting in that picture above. Get it on the stiffest (hole nearest the front)!!!

There must be downside of it being on the highest setting, dont want the back end getting lively in the wet etc :)

Seriously effective mod for the money, if you are at all interested in the way your car handles you need one of these. Should have been a first week of car ownership mod!!

got a RAAARB on mine not to long after getting the car as people seemed to rave about them on the Fabia vRS, still running the standard springs & dampers admittedly but I'm still unconvinced. are your APs the height adjustable fixed damping jobbies?

Yup, just the basic ones. Cant fault them, huge improvement over stock.

What car you got? I found the change quite dramatic under hard cornering conditions.

I've got a Cupra TDI same as you, but hadn't had it long before fitting the anti roll bar which could be why I didn't notice a massive change - maybe I need to remove it to realise it's benefits :D

Does the car feel more settled or compliant over bumps and through corners with the APs? That's the sort of thing I'm after rather than going silly low. You's looks pretty much how I'd want mine, a little lower than standard but still 100% useable

+1 ive never had mine on any other setting apart from the stiffest i still have standard suspension but these create a real planted feel and you really have to re adjust your driving when you fit these at it seems to make the car turn in sooner almost like the steering is sharper.
ive forgotton what its like to drive without one now but id never be without the rear arb in a mk4.

The AP's are a massive improvement over stock suspension. Its stiffer, but the ride is smoother, it irons out bumps better, more comfortable... and i might be wrong but there seems to be less road noise too.

Weitec or AP, they both seem to be highly praised for "budget" coilovers.
