Afternoon all,

Not sure if people like these readers rides regarding scale models of some SEAT cars that get used for trophy prizes at our meets (cleanest car and dirtiest car are the current ones - https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/mk2-leon-cupra-forum-meet-project.447465/)

This new project is based on one of my favourite cars on the forum, The Beast from the East which is a name that has stuck with me haha but long story short it's a MK3 Cupra 280 nicely modified to around the 500bhp mark by one of our forum members (@theoldboy - https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/mk-3-280-stage-3.445295/)

This build is only external mods + some DSG paddles so I won't be lifting the hood etc lol looking forward to them pin stripes!

So I received the car a few days ago and got a few pictures to show you what the plan is and take any ideas you may have to make things easier for me.

How the car arrived

As it was a nearly new post the box was mildly battered but no bother.

The car out of its case

As per the previous builds the standard paint job is shocking at best lol its like it was dipped 20 times, so it's a bit thick so it takes ages to get off.

Here's a few bits that I plan to use when modifying this scale model

Alloys, tyres, brakes and towing eye (for racing)

So to start I've taken the standard wheels, hubs and axles off
IMG_20190205_124254-1305x2320.jpg

Then came the interior which is quite good quality apart from being left hand drive! I don't think my skills reach to a conversion.

Then off came the plates and exhaust

Then a mock up with the old and new wheels as this car is lowered quite abit I left out the old hubs which acted like spacers so now the thre pretty much sits where it should

So what's the plan going forward in no particular order...

- drill out rivits holding windows in
- mock up splitter
- mock up rear diffuser
- mock up new exhaust
- Black out windows
- mock up DSG paddle extensions
- tint front lights
- remove current paint (too thick)
- prime and add Nevada white back on
- fit new plates
- fit scn decals
- paint alloys and brakes
- fit everything back together
- paint pin stripes
- paint new oil sump

This build is going to be a tough one as it's not been designed to be taken apart like the previous MK2 Cupra project.

Fun times ahead!

Them wheels you took off abketo fit my Cupra 300? Could do with some Winter Wheels
The wheels that i removed are the stock 19's I think so yes should fit well I think, do you want the spacers and brakes with that as well? I can touch them up for you so the paint job is good as they're now "used"

Had to file down the old diffuser to get ready for the new one... Plenty of little metal bits all over but went pretty well. Now just to create the diffuser and add the red in when it arrives.

Tried to get a mock up of the rear diffuser today... Little bit wonky but should be able to sort that out.

Managed to get the body stripped then primed along with the wheels and discs. Just need to finalise the diffuser and splitter before Nevada white goes on... Which I realise is a minor issue as my primer is white haha

Stripped
